Job description

What you will do:

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Software Development & Integration, as the Technical Lead, you will guide the technical direction and delivery of our Central Apps, Finance, and HR platforms. You’ll partner closely with cross‑functional teams to build new capabilities, improve existing experiences, and ensure our platforms are reliable, scalable, and secure. In this role, you will leverage your deep expertise in the software development lifecycle, quality engineering, and agile delivery to drive best‑in‑class engineering practices. You will provide hands‑on technical leadership, shaping development standards, ensuring high‑quality code, and leading the team in building robust integrations and enterprise solutions.

This is a hybrid position (3 days in the office per week). Office location is 1303 Yonge Street, Toronto.

Responsibilities

  • Leading development of modern applications using .NET (6–10), C#, ReactJS, and SQL Server.
  • Modernizing legacy .NET Framework systems and contributing to cloud‑first architectural transformation.
  • Architecting secure, scalable applications across on‑premises and Azure environments.
  • Designing and building reliable REST and gRPC APIs.
  • Developing cloud‑ready solutions using Azure services and managing CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
  • Optimizing SQL Server performance through indexing, query tuning, and refined EF Core data-access patterns.
  • Guiding front-end development with ReactJS to deliver cohesive, integrated experiences.
  • Mentoring engineers and elevating team-wide coding standards and engineering practices.
  • Driving improvements in testing, observability, performance, and technical documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with C#, modern .NET, and .NET Framework.
  • Proven ability to lead, influence, and support engineering teams.
  • Strong background in maintaining and modernizing legacy applications.
  • Advanced SQL Server and T‑SQL performance tuning expertise.
  • Deep proficiency with EF Core, data modeling, and high-performance queries.
  • Solid experience with Azure compute, data, security, and networking services.
  • Strong CI/CD automation experience using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
  • Experience designing, securing, and optimizing REST and gRPC APIs.
  • Proficiency in ReactJS, TypeScript, and modern front-end engineering.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
  • Working knowledge of DevSecOps, SRE, or platform engineering concepts.

Inclusion & Diversity

Cineplex, its subsidiaries, and affiliates are equal opportunity employers with a commitment to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce. We encourage and welcome applications from all intersectional walks of life. The collective sum of our individual differences, experiences, knowledge, innovation, self-expression, unique capabilities, and talent represents a significant part of our culture. By valuing a diverse workforce, we enforce hiring practices that are fair and equitable.

Accessibility

Use of AI

We use AI-assisted tools to help us review applications and support parts of the recruitment process. However, every application is reviewed by our HR team, and all hiring decisions are made by our people, not by AI.

This position is a current vacancy and is being actively recruited to fill an existing role within the organization.

While we appreciate all interest, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
