Sawmill Operations Trainee, Castlegar, British Columbia

This is an opportunity forsomeone who wants more than just a job—it’s a launchpad into a leadership career in sawmill operations. As a Sawmill Operations Trainee, you’ll gain hands‑on exposure across every major function of a modern sawmill while being coached by experienced leaders who want to see you succeed.

You’ll be challenged to think critically, solve problems under pressure, communicate effectively, and build trust with frontline teams. For individuals with strong emotional intelligence and the drive to lead, this role provides a clear pathway into future Supervisor and leadership positions, where you can directly impact safety, production, and team performance.

What We Offer
Interfor offers a competitive salary based on experience, skills, and qualifications, with an expected range of $65,000 – $75,000 (CAD) per year. We’re committed to creating careers where employees can contribute, grow, and thrive. In addition to base pay, you’ll enjoy:

What You’ll Learn & Be Responsible For

  • Operational Exposure: Learn end‑to‑end sawmill operations including production, maintenance, quality, logistics, and planning
  • Safety Leadership: Build a strong safety mindset and learn how leaders influence safe work practices on the floor
  • Problem Solving: Analyze operational challenges, respond to issues in real time, and help drive continuous improvement
  • Team Engagement: Work alongside operators, trades, and leaders—developing communication and people‑leadership skills
  • Leadership Development: Gain mentorship, coaching, and formal education designed to prepare you for future Supervisor roles
