Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It:

In this role, you will serve as a "hands-on" Controls Lead/working lead position, responsible for the programming, commissioning, and support of automated production and test equipment. You will work closely with Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and Project teams to bring automation projects from concept through startup while acting as a technical go-to for controls-related topics. Note: This role does not have direct people-management accountability and remains primarily hands-on in nature. This role is ideal for a controls professional who enjoys remaining deeply technical while providing day-to-day guidance and coordination for a small team of Controls Specialists.

Why You’ll Love Working Here:

  • Recognition Programs: Programs that recognize and reward employee achievements and contributions.

  • Strong Leadership: Work under experienced and visionary leaders who guide the company towards success.

  • Innovation Hubs: Access to state-of-the-art facilities and innovation hubs that foster creativity and development.

  • Employee Empowerment: A culture that empowers employees to take initiative and make impactful decisions.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Programming, debugging, commissioning, and supporting automated production and test equipment

  • PLC, HMI, robot, vision, motion, and safety controller programming

  • Electrical troubleshooting and support for automation equipment

  • Supporting new equipment build, installation, and run-at-rate validation

  • Participating in design reviews and project progress meetings

  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to Controls Specialists

  • Supporting standardization of controls hardware, software, and networks

  • Collaborating with Manufacturing and Program teams to meet project schedules

  • Maintaining equipment documentation and controls standards

  • Occasional travel to other Johnson Electric facilities as required

What We’re Looking For:

  • Technical diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or similar

  • 5+ years hands-on experience in an industrial automation / controls environment

  • Strong, hands-on experience with:

    PLC programming (Allen-Bradley and/or Omron)

Industrial robot programming (Fanuc, Yaskawa, or KUKA)

  • Practical knowledge of:

    Electrical systems and troubleshooting

    Pneumatic and hydraulic systems

    Controls networks (EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, etc.)

  • Experience supporting:

    Automated assembly lines

    Robotic cells

    Manufacturing or test equipment

  • Ability to work onsite and support equipment commissioning activities

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
