Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.
Duties
The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.
Qualifications
Renewable and clean energy technologies, including solar photovoltaic systems, wind energy systems, energy storage, fuel cells, and other low-carbon energy sources.
Electrical energy conversion and power systems, including power electronic converters, grid integration, energy efficiency, and basic power-flow concepts.
Modelling and analysis of renewable energy systems, including resource assessment, system sizing, performance evaluation, and economic and environmental considerations.
Proficiency in engineering software such as MATLAB, Simulink, HOMER, PVsyst, or equivalent renewable-energy modelling and simulation tools.
Familiarity with electrical laboratory equipment, data acquisition systems, sensors, and renewable-energy training platforms would be considered an asset.
Previous experience as a teaching assistant or laboratory demonstrator in renewable energy, electrical engineering, power systems, or related engineering courses would be considered an asset.
