What Is the Opportunity?

As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon has been awarded a contract in an Aecon-led partnership with Kiewit Nuclear Canada by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the execution phase on the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) in Clarington, Ontario. In 2025, Aecon began the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.

The Data & Systems Specialist plays a critical role in supporting Training, Construction Operations, and Project Leadership by consolidating workforce training, operational, and project data into meaningful insights. This role improves reporting visibility, enables risk-informed decision-making, and implements automated workflows that streamline compliance, reporting, and workforce readiness across large-scale nuclear projects.

The position focuses on how information is captured, analyzed, and presented to support planning, training, and execution phases of project delivery.

Working closely with Training, Operations, and Leadership teams, the Data & Systems Specialist enhances reporting accuracy, reduces manual processes, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and strengthens performance visibility as the project continues to scale.

This role combines data analytics, reporting development, systems coordination, workflow automation, and stakeholder support to enable effective project delivery and workforce performance management. The position reports directly to the Manager, Data & Systems Analyst.

As a Data & Systems Specialist, you will provide ongoing data analytics, systems support, and digital solutions across nuclear projects during planning, training, and execution windows. You will support workforce training data, electronic work packages, and operational reporting while contributing to risk analysis in the areas of safety, quality, production, and cost.

You will act as a key enabler of digital transformation by automating workflows, improving data integrity, and supporting leadership with timely, accurate insights that inform operational decisions.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Collect, manage, analyze, and interpret training, workforce, and operational data to identify trends and support project decision-making
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to improve visibility into workforce training status and readiness compliance, safety, quality, production, and cost
  • Support Layered Leadership Model (LLM) reporting and other leadership performance reporting requirements
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools that enhance leadership visibility into field engagement and performance trends
  • Assist operations leadership in effectively presenting field performance insights
  • Develop series modeling and analytical frameworks using structured data gathering techniques
  • Maintain data quality, integrity, and reporting standards across training and operational platforms
  • Design and implement automated workflows to streamline reporting, compliance tracking, and data collection
  • Reduce manual processes through digital solutions and system optimization
  • Identify and support opportunities for continuous improvement and digital transformation across projects
  • Support and coordinate business intelligence platforms and supporting systems (e.g., Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Excel)
  • Design, develop, and maintain databases that support training, operations, and project reporting needs
  • Act as a liaison with software vendors for system development, troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades
  • Gain subject matter expertise in one or more commonly used software platforms within the nuclear division
  • Consolidate training and compliance data from multiple systems into unified reporting platform
  • Provide ongoing analytical and systems support to project teams, operations, and internal clients
  • Develop procedures, processes, and documentation as required
  • Develop and deliver training to the nuclear division on new software, tools, and technologies
  • Collaborate closely with Training, Construction Operations, and Project Leadership teams
  • Apply statistical and process analysis techniques to support planning, training, and execution phases
  • Independently plan, schedule, and manage workload while aligning with project timelines and stakeholder needs
  • Identify opportunities to enhance reporting efficiency, data flow, and system usability
  • Support implementation of evolving reporting and workflow requirements as the project grows and operational needs expand
  • Travel to remote work alternate project sites as required

Reason for Vacancy: New

The expected pay range for this role is $65,000 - $75,000 per year

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.

We strongly encourage applicants who identify as Indigenous to apply to work with us on the Darlington New Nuclear Project. At Aecon, Indigenous is an umbrella term for First Nations (status and non-status), Metis and Inuit
