Job description
We are seeking a highly analytical Senior Technical Business Analyst to join the Application Portfolio Modernization (APM) Program. This role is a critical bridge between business strategy and technical execution, focused on assessing the "state of good repair" of a diverse software portfolio. You will lead the migration of legacy applications (MS Access, VB6, PHP, .NET) into modern ecosystems like SharePoint Online, PowerApps, and ServiceNow, while specifically supporting the implementation of the ServiceNow Enterprise Architecture (EA) Module.

Duration: 12-month contract

Location: Onsite (Greater Toronto Area)

Competitive rate

Advantages
Cutting-Edge Platform: Be at the forefront of implementing the ServiceNow EA Module, a high-demand skill in enterprise architecture.

Diverse Tech Stack: Gain exposure to a massive variety of technologies, from 20-year-old legacy systems to modern low-code cloud platforms.

Stable Engagement: 12-month contract within a structured, governance-focused environment.

Responsibilities
Business & Technical Analysis
Requirements Management: Conduct elicitation sessions to capture business needs and develop detailed BRDs, Functional Specifications (FSDs), and User Stories.

Visual Documentation: Produce high-quality process maps, workflow diagrams, and data flow documentation to illustrate current and future-state architectures.

Impact Analysis: Perform comprehensive gap and impact analyses to evaluate proposed system changes and ensure alignment with enterprise standards.

2. Legacy Discovery & Migration Strategy
Deep-Dive Discovery: Analyze legacy application architectures (VB6, MS Access, PHP, .NET) and identify complex system dependencies.

Modernization Pathing: Define clear migration strategies—Retire, Re-platform, or Rebuild—based on technical feasibility and business value.

3. ServiceNow Platform Support
Module Expertise: Provide functional and technical support for ServiceNow modules, specifically Enterprise Architecture (EA), CMDB, and Application Portfolio Management (APM).

Configuration Management: Manage enhancement requests and ensure all customizations align with platform governance and best practices.

Collaboration: Partner with developers and platform owners to implement and test ServiceNow integrations and enhancements.

4. Implementation & Governance
Testing Leadership: Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and coordinate end-to-end testing to validate that modernized apps meet all functional requirements.

Change Management: Participate in ServiceNow Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings and support the definition of platform standards.

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to automate IT processes within ServiceNow to streamline the modernization roadmap.

Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst, with a proven track record in Application Portfolio Management (APM).

Technical Breadth: Strong understanding of legacy environments (MS Access, VB6, .NET) and modern cloud platforms (PowerApps, SharePoint Online).

ServiceNow Mastery: Hands-on experience with ServiceNow Enterprise Architecture (EA) or ITBM modules is highly preferred.

Modeling Skills: Proficiency in process mapping and using tools to document complex data flows and system interactions.

Strategic Thinking: Ability to combine business acumen with technical insight to provide "state of good repair" assessments.

Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills to act as a liaison between Business, IT, and Architecture teams.

Summary
If you are a technical analyst who thrives on "un-tangling" legacy systems and migrating them to modern, scalable platforms like ServiceNow and PowerApps, we encourage you to apply online at www.randstad.ca.
