Every day is a new adventure with opportunities to learn from industry leaders and, most importantly, from each other. When you join the CWB Group, you become part of a diverse and inclusive, tight-knit team passionate about making a global impact.

Our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

The CWB Group believes that diversity and inclusion among our employees is critical to our success, and we seek to recruit, develop and retain the most talented employees from a diverse candidate pool.

Work with us and achieve your career goals

For over 75 years, our employees have been the backbone of our business, driving our success and extraordinary reputation. We challenge our employees to take charge of their careers and provide growth opportunities, tools and resources to reach their goals.

What to expect:

The Manager, Fund and Partner Development is an experienced fundraiser and strategic relationship builder, who will support the Director, Development, the Executive Director and the Foundation Team in expanding and further diversifying revenue generation into new geographic and demographic areas – corporate, institutional, and foundations, in Canada and globally, to achieve the external fundraising goals of the organization. This position is primarily remote based, with travel across Canada and potentially the US, and will report to the Director, Development, CWB Welding Foundation and work with management and staff across the Foundation and the CWB Group of Companies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Fundraising and Donor Development Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors to meet annual fundraising goals. Support the development of a fundraising business plan, containing strategies related to individual donors and prospects including identification, qualification, cultivation and successful solicitation. Identify and propose potential fundraising programs/initiatives in alignment with the strategic priorities of the Foundation and Community Investment and sponsorship priorities of potential funders and granting agencies. Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Foundation programs to create opportunities for donor engagement. Engage with and professionally support community and volunteers in cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities. Prepare compelling and strategic fundraising materials including, but not limited to, information briefs, cases for support, briefing notes, proposals, grants, sponsorship materials and stewardship reports. Liaise with marketing/communications/digital and donor relations support personnel to develop fundraising and recognition materials. Develop and maintain accurate, professional and current records, actions and reports. Assist in the preparation of an annual plan of measurable goals and strategies (including precise and practical deadlines), to maximize commitments. Report fundraising activities (including names of volunteers to recruit/visit, solicitation calls, cultivation calls) at team meetings and ensures that these actions are recorded in the Foundation’s database. Act as an ambassador throughout the community and constituents, positively representing the Foundation and CWB Group.
  • Partnership Development, Management and Communications Identify, engage and build formal and informal relationships with like-minded organizations with complementary interests and programs that align with the purpose and strategic vision of the Foundation. Identify opportunities to collaborate on initiatives that meet mutually beneficial objectives, initiate joint or support based funding proposals to organizations including associations, government and NGO’s and corporations. Establish and ensure the accurate reporting of methods and metrics to enable qualification and quantification of impact for funded and collaborative initiatives. Foster an environment wherein collaboration and partnership activity is activated and stewarded to ensure that objectives are met.
  • Research Gain understanding of the future and current employment needs, and financial needs of major industry sectors, skills gaps and shortages, being addressed by CWBWF. Gain and develop keen awareness of the skill based, accreditation, and other educational gaps of the current workforce as well as evolving requirements for successful career paths within the welding and joining industry, across provincial and international markets Manage a portfolio of 80-120 active relationships: prospects (identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship) for funding and partnership, using a focused and accountable approach of strategy development, cultivation, solicitation, and implementation.
  • Donor Communications and Stewardship Engage with and professionally support business partners and volunteers in qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities. Develop and implement relationship management strategies and timelines. Work closely with donor relations staff to determine the best strategies for effective stewardship of donors. Lead and collaborate in the development and publication of all necessary materials, proposals (philanthropic and sponsorship), cases for support, letters, reports and acknowledgments for cultivation and stewardship of partners. Work with colleagues to plan and execute proposals and targeted communication plans for new, existing and potential partners. Acknowledge that current donors are the Foundations top prospects and lead accordingly to recognize them for their investments with professional stewardship activities, communications and impact reporting.
  • Management, Supervision and Administration Collaborate with marketing communications, research, and program staff to identify new opportunities – prospect identification, gaps, and produce professional, high-quality proposals and reporting communications, impact reporting and reinforcing the brand, purpose and strategic vision of the Foundation. Support the efforts of Foundation and CWB Group leadership and staff to build ambassadors, trusted partners and community within and external to the CWB Group of companies, and to promote mutually supporting relationships with the CWB Group that enhance the financial and operating results of the Foundation and the overall organization.
