HSE CoordinatorThe HSE Coordinator is primarily responsible for overseeing and administering the Bird Safety Program and monitoring safety compliance on the assigned project(s). What You Will Be Working On
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and enforce health and safety standards for all trades and subcontractors on site.
Lead subcontractor onboarding, ensuring all documentation, training, and certifications are complete before work begins.
Conduct and review risk assessments and ensure risk management measures are in place prior to job start milestones.
Deliver and coordinate safety training, toolbox talks, and site orientations.
Perform regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance with safety policies and procedures.
Collaborate with the project management team for pre-planning activities, integrating safety requirements into project schedules.
Facilitate regular check-ins and safety meetings with the project team and site supervisors.
Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-compliance, and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation.
Stay current with local, provincial, and federal safety regulations and best practices in the construction field.
Qualifications:
Certificate, Diploma, or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
3–5 years of progressive experience in health and safety roles, preferably in construction.
Secret-level II security clearance required
Strong knowledge of Ontario health and safety legislation (e.g., OHSA).
Demonstrated experience with subcontractor management, onboarding, and training.
Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and implement risk management strategies.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various sites within the GTA.
Professional safety certifications (e.g., CRSP, CRST, CHSO, NCSO) are considered an asset
Experience with large-scale or multi-trade construction projects is considered an asset
