Opening : The position is part of an alliance agreement with Kiewit Nuclear Canada and Ontario Power Generation for the construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site, beginning in 2025.
What is the Opportunity?
Reporting to the Sr. Procurement Manager, the Sr. Procurement Specialist is responsible for all purchasing‑related activities, including ensuring materials and services are delivered to site on time, managing SAP entry, tracking deliveries, and handling the lifecycle of purchase orders.
What You’ll Do Here
- Understand how purchasing can enhance the enterprise, supply chain and competitive strategy.
- Develop detailed plans to optimize the delivery of equipment, materials, supplies and services for quality, cost and schedule.
- Prepare and issue RFX documents to qualified vendors.
- Negotiate and / or aid in negotiation of best price, delivery, terms of payment, purchase conditions and price escalation.
- Collaborate with operations personnel and support regional offices in obtaining materials.
- Support estimating team with pricing at tendering stage and manage logistics, including expediting critical site deliveries.
- Analyze internal third‑party agreements and manage the lifecycle of purchase order activity.
- Participate in evaluation of suppliers across all pertinent vectors of supplier performance.
- Apply problem‑solving methodology to drive issues to root cause and corrective action.
- Adhere to Aecon’s procurement, safety and other relevant policies.
- Maintain high data integrity when inputting records in database systems.
- Provide reporting and analysis on procurement activities, variances and impacts.
- Facilitate implementation of business‑specific contracts for services and / or materials.
