Job descriptionJob Title : Registered Nurse Status : Regular Part Time Department : Child / Adolescent Mental Health Program : Mental Health & Addictions Schedule : Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends - 8 and 12 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change) Location : Lakeridge Health Oshawa Wage Schedule : $39.070 - $56 per hour ONA : 2500001096 Registration (in good standing) with the College of Registered Nurses of Ontario Commitment to Reflective Practice Standards (CNO) Current B.C.L.S Minimum 3 years inpatient or community mental health experience, preferably with children and adolescents Certificates in Child and Adolescent Mental Health or Mental Health are assets Psychiatric Nursing Certificate is preferred Skills in physical and mental health assessments for children with serious mental illnesses Ability to provide therapeutic and psycho-educational interventions Understanding of mental illness in children and youth, and ability to create care plans Ability to assume a charge role Knowledge of evidence-based interventions and psychopharmacology Crisis intervention skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Teamwork and confidentiality Commitment to inclusion, compassion, innovation, teamwork, and joy Knowledge of safety programs and practices

Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
Working within a multidisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse will conduct patient physical and mental health assessments, contribute to treatment plans, and deliver interventions within the Child and Adolescent Inpatient unit. Responsibilities include crisis assessment and management, medication administration, facilitating group work, and providing individual and family support / counselling / health teaching. The nurse will document patient care and participate in care meetings, maintaining all relevant statistics.
