Job description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

As an integral member of the Nephrology Program, the Registered Nurse is highly skilled and responsible for supporting a system that delivers person-centred, safe and effective kidney care services in an efficient, equitable and timely manner. The successful candidate will be responsive to the staffing needs within in-center hemodialysis at Oshawa, Whitby and Lakeridge Gardens. As the program continues to achieve deliverables under the Ontario Renal Network (ORN) and strives to achieve the targets of the Ontario Renal Plan, the registered nurse will provide excellence in patient care, maintain competency and professionalism relevant to dialysis practice and work collaboratively in the context of an interprofessional nephrology team.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNO;
  • Current B.C.L.S;
  • BScN is preferred;
  • Recent hemodialysis experience and evidence of recent related continuing education;
  • Nephrology Nursing certificate preferred or evidence of enrollment or progression towards completion;
  • Familiar and comfortable with electronic documentation;

Must have Level 2 training to provide treatment to patients 1 : 1 that are acute hospitalized inpatients, patients admitted in the emergency department or admitted in the critical care department

  • Demonstrated good organizational, interpersonal, communication skills both written and verbal; problem-solving, prioritization and teaching skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations;
  • Proven ability to perform a leadership / preceptorship role;
  • Physically capable of performing the duties of the position in order to lift, turn, and transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids;
  • Must have satisfactory performance record;
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff patient, and environmental safety, and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

    The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).

    Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
