The Development division supports the Toronto Community Housing vision and mission through nurturing revitalized communities and tenants by providing programs, services and partnerships aimed at the needs of children and youth, working families, under/employed youth, seniors and other vulnerable tenant populations. The Division does this through tenant engagement, accessing services and spaces, integrating healthy communities, providing supports for seniors and vulnerable tenants, economic development programs and corporate sponsorships/partnerships.

We are searching for an innovative community engagement professional who will support and coordinate processes leading to strong neighborhoods where every tenant is connected to opportunities to succeed.

The Program Coordinator will play a vital role in the Revitalization team by managing and delivering revitalization-related programs and activities that promote engagement, community economic development, and social development. Key responsibilities include developing outreach materials, facilitating community workshops, and establishing partnerships to ensure effective program implementation and community impact.

Hybrid Job: This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. This arrangement will allow you to work some days at a TCHC work location and the rest of the time from home. The amount of time required to work at a TCHC work location is flexible, while considering operational and service delivery requirements.

What you’ll do

Program Coordination:

  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of revitalization programs and projects, including developing revitalization educational resources (e.g. organizing community programs, community events, workshops, and community meetings).
  • Build and maintain relationships with tenants, building staff and community partners.
  • Oversee meeting logistics including room set up, food and supplies and minute-taking.
  • Assist in the collection, analysis, and reporting of program data, including tracking progress towards program goals and objectives.
  • Assist in the development and dissemination of program materials, including program registration and newsletters.
  • Provide feedback to manager for program improvement and innovation.
  • Coordinate and schedule timely communication of program timelines and schedules within the internal and external partners.

Relocation Support:

  • Develop and implement plans, including timeline and resources allocation.
  • Coordinate relocation efforts, including communicating with tenant, support with relocation meetings, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Communicate with tenants to provide relocation information, address concerns and offer support through relocation process.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of relocation programs and services, identifying areas for improvement and implement changes if needed.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide administrative assistance to the Revitalization Supervisor and team, including preparing correspondence, reports, and presentations.
  • Ensure inventory is monitored and maintained at adequate levels to support program needs
  • Coordinate the logistics needed to ensure program efficient program delivery such as moving supplies, purchasing ordering supplies and equipment

What you’ll need

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., social sciences including, Children and Youth work, Social Work, Urban Planning, Community Development, Public Administration)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field, preferably in a community development or revitalization context.
  • Extensive experience leading and facilitating community safety initiatives including violence reduction work.
  • First-hand experience working with MVP Youth and other vulnerable populations living in marginalized communities.
  • CPR/First Aid is level C an asset
  • High Five Certification Principles of Healthy Child Development an asset
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act an asset
  • Extensive experience working with people from all age groups
  • Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License is considered an asset
  • Experience in the development and implementation of children and youth/ programming
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills (including keeping and reconciling inventory, logistics)
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service, innovation, creativity and quality improvement
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Sensitivity to ethno-racial and equity issues
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with data management and analysis software (e.g., Excel).
  • Familiarity with community development and revitalization principles and practices.
