Course Title: PHY245H5F - Vibrations and Waves
Course Description: The analysis of vibrating systems and wave motion, introducing mathematical techniques such as complex numbers, eigenvalue problems, and Fourier series. Topics include: simple and coupled oscillators; dispersion relations and boundary conditions; travelling waves; propagation of electromagnetic waves in materials; reflection and transmission of waves at interfaces.

Class schedule: In-person delivery - tutorial and lab in alternate weeks. Tutorial: Friday 11am - 1pm & Lab: Friday 11am - 2pm
Sessional dates of appointment: September 2026 – December 2026
Salary: . The rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Qualifications: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Physics. Sound knowledge in contents covered in the course required. Good communication skills are required as well.Previous TA experience marking assignments, quizzes, tests and/or final exam and working with undergraduate students in Physics laboratory and tutorial setting an asset.
Description of Duties: Duties will include laboratory demonstrations, leading tutorials, marking laboratory reports, and/or quizzes/assignments. May also include invigilation of term tests and/or final exam.
