Job description

Summary

We are recruiting for an HR Technology (SuccessFactors) Analyst to join our team, based in Calgary. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Human Resources, the successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing Spartan’s current SuccessFactors environment, translating business needs into practical system solutions, and helping shape the sequencing and roadmap for future HR technology enhancements. This role will focus initially on strengthening existing modules, improving data and process integrity, reducing manual work across systems, and defining a thoughtful path to enable additional capabilities over time.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with HR stakeholders to understand business needs, identify pain points, and translate requirements into practical system and process improvements.
  • Lead the optimization of Spartan’s current SuccessFactors footprint, with an initial focus on Employee Central, Recruiting, and existing talent capabilities.
  • Assess current configuration, customizations, workflows, and processes to identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve long-term maintainability.
  • Interpret and sequence business requirements to support an effective HR technology roadmap, including recommendations on what should be optimized first and what future capabilities should be introduced over time.
  • Support the development of a phased approach for enabling additional strategic modules such as Learning, Talent Intelligence Hub, and Compensation, with minimal disruption to the business.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and dual data entry across HR, payroll, and financial systems by improving process design, data flows, and integration readiness.
  • Provide functional expertise on SuccessFactors configuration, administration, and downstream impacts of design decisions across modules and connected systems.
  • Review and strengthen role-based security and permissions to improve governance, access management, and user experience.
  • Support system administration activities including configuration updates, testing, issue resolution, reporting, and release review.
  • Develop, test, and troubleshoot standard and non-standard reports and provide insights to support HR decision-making.
  • Work with limited change management and IT support by operating with a high degree of autonomy, sound judgment, and proactive communication.
  • Monitor new releases and functionality and assess business fit, implementation considerations, and potential impacts before adoption.
  • Support solutioning and approval process with respective team members.
  • Understand the business system connections, integrations, and cross functional impacts.
  • Develop and document solutions, decisions, guidelines, best practices, etc.
  • Training and support for system users.
  • Promote industry standards and best practice.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on SuccessFactors experience in a system administration, analyst, or functional HR technology role.
  • Strong experience working within SuccessFactors Employee Central and Recruiting, with exposure to talent modules and an understanding of how module design decisions impact downstream functionality.
  • Experience optimizing an existing HRIS environment, including reviewing customizations, identifying process improvements, and balancing business requirements with scalable system design.
  • Understanding of HR technology roadmapping and the ability to help sequence requirements and implementation priorities in a practical, low-disruption way.
  • Knowledge of role-based security and permissions within SuccessFactors, including experience improving access models and governance.
  • Familiarity with integrations between HRIS, payroll, finance, and related systems; experience with Dayforce, SAP, or comparable enterprise systems would be an asset.
  • Understanding of SuccessFactors platform design, architecture, release practices, and the implications of configuration choices across modules.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret business needs, solve problems, and make thoughtful recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, vendors, and internal partners.
  • Highly self-directed, organized, and comfortable working independently in an environment with limited dedicated change management or IT support.
  • Advanced Excel and strong general Microsoft Office skills.
  • Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to other Spartan offices across Western Canada, as required.
Spartan recognizes that there are many ways in which candidates develop knowledge, abilities, and competencies throughout their careers. We encourage applications from candidates with a variety of backgrounds and we do consider qualifications and competencies that are equivalent to those specifically mentioned above. As part our recruitment process, successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment security background check. Close Date: June 28, 2026 (11:59 pm MDT) IND123 Requisition ID: 1812
