Job descriptionA Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. Minimum of 5 years experience with MongoDB databases. Experience with Cassandra is an asset. Experience with NoSQL databases such as Solr, Scylla, CockroachDB is an asset. Proficiency in at least one programming language (Shell, Java, Go, C#, C++, Ruby, Python, Ansible), with Shell and Python preferred. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure). Experience with web applications, distributed systems, and databases. Familiarity with multiple orchestration and configuration management systems. Understanding of continuous integration and automation practices. Knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and metric collection systems. Understanding of IT service standards such as ITIL. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Self‑motivated and directed approach in demanding, fast‑paced environment. Meticulous attention to detail. Strong active listening skills. What You Will Be Doing
- Focus on project work, debugging performance degradations, audits, and health checks.
- Design and help implement new MongoDB and Cassandra deployments.
- Evaluate existing clusters and provide recommendations on best practices.
- Debug high priority issues on mission critical production environments.
- Engage with the MongoDB and Cassandra community through user lists, IRC, blog posts, webinars, and open source projects.
- Contribute to rapid brainstorming and prototype development.
- Automate and provide documentation on operational procedures.
- Train and mentor junior team members.
- Provide performance and forecast reports on the health and load of critical business processes.
- Participate in company and team meetings.
- Continue education in Pythian’s Operations‑as‑a‑Service supported stack.
- Provide on‑call support as part of the team’s on‑call rotational schedule.
