Job Summary

The Program is a province-building initiative to digitize, modernize, and expand Nova Scotia’s geoscience assets through a coordinated, AI-ready data modernization program. Reporting to the Program Director, the Site Coordinator will provide on‑site coordination and day‑to‑day support for drill core scanning activities at the Nova Scotia Core Library, the primary delivery location for the NovaGEOSCIENCE Program. The Site Coordinator will work closely with provincial staff and contractors to ensure smooth daily operations by assisting with access to core, facility coordination, and issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular on-site presence to support and coordinate core scanning operations at the Core Library.

  • Coordinate access to drill core, workspaces, and facilities to enable efficient scanning activities.
  • Support core handling activities, including movement, staging, and sequencing in collaboration with contractors.
  • Monitor daily operations, identify issues related to workflow, facilities, or safety, and escalate as needed. In collaboration with staff, oversee and report on facility renovations.
  • Coordinate digitization of historical geoscience records in collaboration with contractors and Core Library staff.

Note

Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person at the Nova Scotia Core Library in Stellarton, Nova Scotia.

Required Qualifications

  • Post‑secondary education in a relevant field plus approximately two to three years’ in a relevant field (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Experience working in an operational, laboratory, warehouse, or field‑based environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and coordination skills; ability to work effectively with contractors and government staff.
  • Practical, problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working primarily on site in an active operational environment.

Assets

  • Experience with the mining sector and/or core handling.
