Job description

What is the Opportunity?

Aecon Civil is a recognized leader in the market, backed by strong self-perform capabilities and deep local expertise. We play a key role in building and enhancing infrastructure across Canada, the U.S., and an expanding international footprint, improving everyday life through the roads, bridges, tunnels, and transit systems that connect communities. With more than a century of experience and a full suite of integrated services, Aecon is a trusted partner for delivering complex civil projects, including tunnels, transit expansions, airports, ports, highways, and large-scale site development.

The project is a landmark heavy civil infrastructure project in Ontario's Kawartha Lakes and Barrie regions. As a key part of the Arctic Over the Horizon Radar Program, the project includes significant on-site and off-site material movement activities, extensive earthworks, deep and shallow foundation construction, structural concrete works, and the delivery of multiple buildings and supporting infrastructure.

As part of this project, Aecon's Civil team is advancing nation-building infrastructure through a strategic partnership with Pomerleau and Stantec. Delivered through a collaborative Integrated Project Delivery model, an Aecon-led joint venture is responsible for project delivery.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-profile project from early planning through completion and delivering lasting infrastructure that will make a meaningful impact for future generations.

  • Participate in all OSH meetings as required.

  • Cooperate with the various training organizations on site and within the company.
  • Produce dashboards and reports using data from multiple sources to support Health & Safety performance monitoring and decision-making.
  • Analyze trends, identify patterns, and develop insights from Health & Safety data to support proactive risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare regular reports for management, highlighting opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with field teams, supervisors, and Site Committees to identify practical solutions and recommend strategies to enhance Health & Safety performance and compliance.
  • Support the development of data-driven initiatives that promote a strong safety culture and improve operational effectiveness.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
  • Certificate in Health and Safety Coordination, National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and relevant industry experience.
  • Experience providing Health and Safety support within a construction environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, Microsoft Forms, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and other digital tools used to support reporting and analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, take initiative, and proactively address challenges and opportunities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Available to work on site five (5) days per week.
  • Willing and able to travel to various project locations as required, including Barrie, Kawartha, and Toronto.
