Job description

Are you a Mainframe expert who thrives in fast-paced, high-impact environments? Do you enjoy solving complex puzzles under pressure and ensuring critical financial systems run flawlessly?

We are looking for a Mainframe Production Support Specialist to lead incident investigation, drive rapid service recovery, and champion operational excellence.
You will be at the heart of global transaction banking, collaborating with virtual teams across the globe to keep the financial world moving.

Advantages
Why You'll Love This Opportunity

Prime Location: Work right in the heart of Toronto's Financial District

Flexibility: Enjoy a balanced hybrid work model.

Global Scale: Put a massive, internationally recognized financial institution on your resume while working with cutting-edge global payment technology.

Responsibilities
What You’ll Do (The Day-to-Day)
Mastermind Incident Recovery: Lead the charge during service disruptions. You’ll coordinate multi-party technical teams, drive immediate mitigations, and restore services quickly and safely.

Communicate with Impact: Translate technical chaos into clear, structured updates for regional stakeholders, keeping everyone aligned on impact, progress, and recovery plans.

Drive Continuous Improvement: Participate in post-incident reviews to unearth root causes, build robust runbooks, and proactively eliminate recurring issues.

Guard the Environment: Participate in change reviews, flag potential risks, and support critical engineering events like role swaps, disaster recovery tests, patching, and evergreening.

Work Globally & Flexibly: Collaborate with diverse, cross-border virtual teams. Because global markets never sleep, you’ll occasionally support off-hours activities or adjust your shift schedule (e.g., mid-day starts) to align with critical maintenance windows.

Qualifications
What You’ll Need to Succeed
The Must-Haves:

5–7 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe application development and/or production support.

Deep Mainframe Technical Core: Solid expertise in CICS, DB2, COBOL, MQ, TWS, and SPUFI.

Production Support DNA: A rock-solid understanding of IT infrastructure, service stability principles, and ITIL frameworks (Incident, Problem, Change, and Release management).

Cool Under Pressure: Exceptional problem-solving skills with a sharp instinct for when to escalate critical issues.

Elite Communication: Fluent English skills with the cultural awareness needed to collaborate seamlessly across global boundaries.

Tech-Forward Mindset: Familiarity with modern AI productivity tools like Copilot and Claude to optimize your workflows.

Nice-to-Haves:

Experience within Corporate Banking (Payments domain exposure is a massive plus).

Exposure to Open Systems & databases: SQL, Java/J2EE, Unix, Oracle, and WebSphere.

Familiarity with monitoring and observability giants like AppDynamics, Splunk, or Geneos.

Network infrastructure knowledge or official ITIL Accreditation.

Summary

Ready to Make an Impact?
If you are a self-motivated Mainframe specialist who loves a challenge and wants to shape the future of client connectivity, we want to hear from you.
