Job description

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Controller to join our client's growing team in Toronto. This role will be a key member of the finance leadership team, responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and driving process improvements. This is a critical role that will own the accounting function and work closely with the global team to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations.

What You Will Be Doing:

Financial Reporting:

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process for the company and its subsidiaries
Consolidate financial statements from three operating entities and four holding companies
Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with US GAAP (upcoming US GAAP conversion coming up)
Prepare and analyze financial reports for Private Equity stakeholders

Audit and Compliance:

Oversee external audit preparation and support
Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations
Partner with external tax advisor to ensure tax compliance

Management:

Own the financial reporting function and ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial information to stakeholders
Develop and maintain cash flow forecasting and planning processes
Work with the financial planning team to understand revenue recognition and accruals during the month-end closing process

Team Management:

Provide oversight and direction to the accounting team in the Philippines
Foster a strong working relationship with the CFO, financial planning team, and other relevant stakeholders

Technical Accounting:

Conduct technical accounting research and provide guidance on complex accounting matters

What We Need From You:

CPA designated (audit training preferred)
2+ years of relevant experience within SaaS
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written)
Knowledge of US GAAP is an asset
Experience coaching and mentoring a small team
System savvy, experience with NetSuite is an asset
Advanced Excel skills
