This role is a blend of high-level technical engineering and strategic mentorship. You will be responsible for the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering to post-implementation maintenance. The ideal candidate is a seasoned developer who not only excels at writing complex code and APIs but also has a passion for coaching and upskilling internal teams to ensure long-term system sustainability.

Contract Duration: 6-month contract
Schedule: 7 hours per day, 5 days per week
Rate: $70.23-$76.92/hr

Advantages
Professional Mentorship: Play a key role in upskilling an internal development team and shaping development standards.

Modern Tech Stack: Work with cutting-edge SAP technologies including S/4HANA, RAP, and Embedded Analytics.

Hybrid Flexibility: Balanced onsite schedule in a prime Toronto location.

High-Visibility Impact: Direct influence over both project-based innovation and long-term system sustainment for a major organization.

Responsibilities
End-to-End Development: Design, document, develop, and unit test SAP development objects (RICEFW) adhering to best practices in S/4HANA and ECC.

Full SDLC Participation: Lead all phases of the development lifecycle, including initiation, requirements gathering, design, testing, and implementation.

Technical Quality Assurance: Perform code and QA reviews for both internal teams and system integrators; configure ABAP Test Cockpit and Code Inspector to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Integration & API Management: Facilitate integration between SAP and divisional systems using IDocs, OData, REST, and SOAP web services.

Support & Remediation: Investigate and remediate defects during project testing cycles, escalating with SAP when necessary.

Operational Sustainability: Design procedures for error handling, monitoring, and Fiori application management to ensure objects are maintainable in a production environment.

Knowledge Leadership: Conduct formal knowledge transfer sessions, provide coaching/mentoring to developers, and document detailed technical specifications and run procedures.

Project Governance: Report status, highlight risks, and provide recommendations to ensure deliverables remain on time and on budget.

Qualifications
Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience in ABAP Development (including ABAP Objects and 7.4/7.5 syntax) across the full RICEFW spectrum.

Technical Mastery: Proven expertise in Eclipse ADT, SAPGUI, Gateway Service Builder (SEGW), Core Data Services (CDS), and ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP).

Fiori & Cloud Tools: Experience with Fiori application development, Business Application Studio (BAS), and Gitlab.

Integration Skills: Proficiency in IDocs, OData, and REST/SOAP APIs. Knowledge of SAP Cloud Integration (CI) iFlows and Application Interface Framework (AIF) is an asset.

Enhancements & Workflow: Extensive experience implementing BADI’s, Customer Exits, BTE’s, Enhancement Spots, SAP Workflow, and Adobe Forms.

Functional Knowledge: Demonstrated experience within SAP modules FI, CO, FM, GM, TRM, MM, and SD.

Tools & Methodologies: Experience with SAP Solution Manager, Jira, and HPQC within Agile and Waterfall environments.

Education: Post-secondary education in Computer Science or a related field; SAP Development certification is preferred.
