JOB OPPORTUNITY- Relief School Bus Driver
GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
The School Bus Driver is responsible for the transportation of the school’s students while maintaining the highest possible regard for safety.
The School Bus Driver will maintain a professional attitude and will be a positive role model for the students. The incumbent will provide transportation services for the students when attending field trips and other organized events as required.
The School Bus Driver will be familiar with basic bus maintenance and mechanics.
ORANGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS :
The School Bus Driver reports directly to the School Principal.
AREA OF SUPERVISION :
Supervision of all bus passengers including students and adults riding on the bus.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY :
Student transportation, safety and bus maintenance.
Job Qualifications :
Applicants must possess the necessary qualifications and proven to operate a bus safely while also expecting respectful behaviour.
Bus drivers shall possess a valid license necessary to drive the 76 passenger bus (class 1).
Able to use or learn to use CB Radio for safe monitoring of logging road traffic.
Enjoy working with children, community members and the school staff.
Drivers shall possess the communications skills required to assure that adequate communication occurs between students, drivers, faculty, and parents.
Able to maintain a safe driving record and to keep daily log of mileage and fuel.
Proven ability to troubleshoot basic bus maintenance and simple mechanical problems.
ICBC Driver’s abstract required.
Criminal record check required.
Length of Employment & Wage Range :
This position is on call , with varying hours (5-6 hours per day depending on program needs) for the school and education department. Wages will be discussed.
