As Manager, Online Financing, you support BDC’s online financing and digital strategies by delivering an efficient and positive client experience throughout the loan application and authorization process. You assess online loan applications, conduct due diligence and credit analysis, resolve client issues, and escalate exceptional or unusual situations when required.

BDC is the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs. Your work contributes directly to supporting the growth and success of small and medium-sized businesses across Canada.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Apply BDC’s online financing policies, procedures, credit criteria and decision-making requirements consistently.
  • Prepare high-quality credit recommendations for loan authorization or decline, based on credit scoring and analysis.
  • Identify potential credit and fraud risks and prepare fraud files when required.
  • Analyze and negotiate financial deals and develop solutions that balance client needs with BDC’s lending requirements.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with clients regarding the status of loan applications, including communicating declined applications professionally and diplomatically.
  • Collaborate with business centre colleagues and internal partners to provide a consistent client experience and application of lending policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client information in BDC systems.
  • Stay current on changes to credit policies, procedures, processes, CRM practices and regulatory requirements that may affect Online Financing.
  • Help resolve compliance issues or material changes arising as financing transactions are negotiated and structured.
  • Provide support to Online Financing Analysts and other teams as required.
  • Contribute to an inclusive workplace where people can be themselves while working together to support Canadian entrepreneurs.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related business discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in loan writing / credit underwriting.
  • Experience analyzing and negotiating financial deals.
  • Knowledge of credit scoring.
  • Demonstrated credit judgment and understanding of credit policies and lending practices.
  • Knowledge of banking products, banking services, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to conduct detailed loan analysis and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-changing, deadline-driven environment and manage competing priorities.
  • Client service and client communication skills, including the ability to interact and negotiate with clients and internal partners.
  • Time management and prioritization skills to meet critical deadlines.
  • Business acumen and understanding of small business dynamics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Bilingualism is an asset

Proudly one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers and one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers, we are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive and accessible environment where all employees can thrive and feel empowered to bring their whole selves to work.
