At Stantec, we help deliver the critical minerals needed to power our world, from the cars we drive to the infrastructure powering our communities. And we don’t just design the largest, deepest, and most technically challenging mines in the world—we do it sustainably. We’re helping clients reduce energy usage, adopt clean energy sources, and implement digital solutions and automation.

Join our team of mining professionals and you’ll be at the forefront of this evolving industry while building the mine of the future. You’ll also build your own future, with exciting opportunities for development and advancement.

Projects range from scoping level mine planning and design through to feasibility studies, permitting and operational support and into reclamation and closure activities. As part of Stantec’s mining team, you will be part of a highly motivated team involved in mine engineering studies, ranging from open pit mine design and scheduling through capital and operating cost estimates. Stantec’s mining team pride ourselves on our ability to develop real-world solutions to mining problems and as part of our team you will develop the skills related to a wide variety of areas from feasibility to closure in developing and evaluating mining operations. Your education and work experience will provide you with the ability to work as a productive member of Stantec’s integrated mining team.

Responsibilities and essential job tasks include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Data evaluation and interpretation including equipment productivity, costing and resource definition

  • Open pit optimization, mine planning, scheduling and pit design

  • Haul cycle calculations and cost estimation for mining equipment fleets

  • Site operational support for short, mid and long-range planning

  • Support for our environmental, geotechnical and tailings planning groups in the development and design of large mining and closure projects.

  • Comply with and actively participate in Stantec and client safety programs.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (both written and oral communication).
