The Role

Purity Gas is seeking a highly proficient Mechanical Designer to produce production‑ready mechanical drawings for engineered and manufactured nitrogen generation systems. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Mechanical Designer is responsible for translating engineering intent into clear, accurate CAD deliverables used directly by fabrication, assembly, procurement, and quality teams.

This position is intended for candidates who are fully fluent in SolidWorks, capable of working independently, and comfortable producing drawings that require minimal clarification or rework before reaching the shop floor.

What You’ll Do

  • Produce detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings for engineered and manufactured nitrogen generation systems using SolidWorks, including assemblies, sub‑assemblies, and fabrication details
  • Generate detailed drawings for process piping, tubing, valves, flanges, fittings, regulators, and instrumentation mounting, suitable for fabrication and assembly
  • Create and maintain drawings for skid‑mounted equipment, including equipment layouts, mounting details, lifting features, and interface points
  • Maintain drawing accuracy through revisions, engineering changes, and as‑built updates
  • Apply consistent drafting standards, layering, naming conventions, and revision control within the CAD environment
  • Support bill of material (BOM) creation and updates for mechanical components and assemblies
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve drawing‑related questions and ensure manufacturability
  • Identify interferences, missing information, or manufacturability concerns before drawings are released to production
  • Maintain organized CAD files and documentation within document control and ISO9001 : 2015
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of drafting standards, templates, and workflows

What You Bring

  • College diploma or technical certification in Mechanical Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline and relevant work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience producing mechanical drawings in an industrial manufacturing or engineered equipment environment
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, with demonstrated ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Proven ability to produce clear, complete, production‑ready drawings with minimal supervision
  • Strong understanding of mechanical components, materials, fasteners, and common manufacturing processes
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerancing, and basic tolerance stack‑ups
  • Experience working with revision control and document management systems within an ISO9001 : 2015 framework
  • High attention to detail and strong ownership of drawing quality
  • Proficiency working in both imperial and metric units.
  • Experience supporting engineered‑to‑order or capital equipment projects
  • Exposure to pressurized gas systems, piping, skids, frames, or industrial process equipment
  • Familiarity with nitrogen and compressed air processes and equipment
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs and interface effectively with mechanical or process engineers
  • What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation package, including annual performance bonus
  • Paid time off to recharge and refresh
  • Health & Dental coverage — 100% employer‑paid
  • RRSP matching program to help you invest in your future
  • Phone reimbursement plan to keep you connected
  • Monthly team lunches to bond and brainstorm over great food
  • Snacks and drinks in the office to fuel your day
  • Flexible work arrangements to support work‑life harmony
  • A culture of learning, growth, and innovation
  • Opportunities to shape the future of industrial manufacturing
  • Work Conditions

  • Regular full‑time hours (37.5 hours per week), 5 days per week
  • Primary workplace location is the Purity Gas head office (with some flexibility for hybrid)
  • Minimal travel required, with potential for infrequent off‑site meetings or events
  • While we appreciate all applications, we use automated screening tools and questions to help identify candidates who meet the core requirements for this role. All applications that meet the basic criteria are reviewed by our recruitment team, and only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
