Job description

Project Manager - Digital Transformation

Project Manager - Digital Transformation

Sunrise Farmsis a group of companies with primary focus in the poultry industry.

From our hatcheries to our “ready to eat” state of the art cooking facilities we service customers in the retail, food service and industrial sectors. We are proud of our support of the Canadian farm as well as our investment in the latest equipment and technologies at our facilities across Canada.

Role:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager (PM) to join our Digital Transformation Program, a multi-year initiative modernizing business systems, processes, and data capabilities across our manufacturing operations in Canada.

The PM’s first project will be the Data Foundations Project, which includes establishing data governance and a reporting center of excellence (COE), enhancing an interim SQL Warehouse solution, and finally delivery a true modern data platform (Snowflake) with medallion architecture. On this project the PM will oversee a number of technical resources, as well as a tiger team of analysts from across the organization who represent all of our key departments.

The PM will also manage dependencies across other key program initiatives, including the ERP (Syspro) Implementation Project, the WMS/MES Implementation Project, CMMS Implementation Project, and the EDI Transformation Project. Being able to build relationships and coordinate activities in an environment where there is A LOT going on is a must.

Our organization is continuing to grow, and the ideal candidate will be able to lead more than one project at a time. They will play a long-term role in leading enterprise projects and strategic initiatives that support and enable that growth, including future data specific projects (AI, IOT), enterprise solution projects (CRM, TMS, QMS), and subsets of M&A projects.

The ideal candidate will have a technical background paired with project management expertise, strong communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Assign, track, and manage tasks for a technical team of data integration analysts, report analysts, and other specialists.
  • Manage both technical and business resources assigned to the project from our ERP implementation partner and any other vendor as required. Track hours of vendors against a budget.
  • Manage and enable a tiger team of analysts from across the business in validating solutions and reporting, and in highlighting project progress to key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Implement simple common sense master data management processes.
  • Enhance our current SQL based data warehouse to allow for the sustainment of key reporting through the plant by plant phased rollout of our new ERP (Syspro).
  • Establish reporting governance and a reporting COE that leverages both IT resources, and enables tiger team members to create reports and conduct analysis tasks,
  • Maintain a backlog of reports
  • Lead the implementation of a best-in-class data platform solution (snowflake) with medallion architecture.
  • Manage dependencies and resource constraints across projects in the program.
  • Take on any other tasks related to Data as required by the program.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource plans
  • Apply project management best practices (waterfall or hybrid)
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues, and change requests
  • Facilitate workshops, steering committee updates, and decision-making sessions with executive sponsors and project stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
  • PMP, PRINCE2, CAPM, or ITIL certifications considered an asset
  • 8+ years of progressive project management experience, including at least 3 years managing large-scale enterprise IT or digital transformation projects
  • Hands-on experience managing technology implementations involving enterprise software vendors and systems integrators
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives in manufacturing, industrial, or asset-intensive environments preferred
  • Hands-on technical experience such as in ELT, SQL Stored Procedures, Python or in pipes, coding, or scripting that connects to databases.
  • Familiarity with data governance, data platforms, or analytics modernization projects preferred

Competencies:

  • Strong technical competency with data related topics
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a focus on delivering results
  • Lead multiple projects and initiatives at the same time
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and negotiation abilities across all organizational levels
  • Strategic thinker who can also dive into execution details when required
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Play a key role in a company-wide digital transformation that is reshaping how we operate and make decisions.
  • Collaborate with talented professionals in IT, Operations, and Data disciplines.
  • Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and professional development opportunities.
