Job description

Our client, Waycon Manufacturing Ltd., is a leading industrial equipment and machinery manufacturer serving clients across North America. Known for delivering high-quality, custom-built solutions, they support a wide range of industries including mining, forestry, and automation from a two-acre facility equipped with advanced in-house machinery, state-of-the-art tooling, and modern engineering technology. Their capabilities span concept design, CNC machining, fabrication, welding, painting, assembly, and testing.

They are seeking a Mechanical Draftsperson/Engineering Support professional to join their engineering team. This role will support the development of accurate, complete drawing packages for fabrication and machining projects while assisting with day-to-day engineering documentation and production support. Your work will move directly from drawing to shop floor, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on manufacturing environments and collaborative problem solving.

Waycon is open to candidates at different stages of their career. Experienced draftspersons with SolidWorks proficiency are strongly encouraged to apply; however, they will also consider motivated junior candidates who demonstrate strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and grow within the role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create, revise, and maintain detailed manufacturing drawings for machining and fabrication projects;
  • Work closely with engineers to ensure designs are accurate, practical, and shop-ready;
  • Prepare and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), production documentation, and revision records;
  • Assist engineering and production teams with drawing updates, changes, and day-to-day documentation support;
  • Ensure drawing and document control standards are consistently maintained.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma or related education is considered an asset;
  • Experience preparing technical drawings and documentation for manufacturing environments is preferred;
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or demonstrated ability to quickly learn technical drafting software;
  • Familiarity with Excel, BOM management, and document management systems is an asset;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret engineering specifications;
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering and production teams;
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment;
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, and interest in precision manufacturing.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary range of $52,000 – $62,400, depending on experience, technical aptitude, and qualifications;
  • Comprehensive dental and health insurance coverage;
  • Allowances for boots and personal protective equipment;
  • Opportunities for overtime and ongoing professional development;
  • Full-time hours with a strong focus on work-life balance;
  • Long-term career opportunity with a stable, growing Canadian manufacturer.

If you are a detail-oriented and technically minded individual looking to build your career in manufacturing and engineering support, we would love to hear from you. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected and collaborative team where you can develop your skills while contributing to complex, high-quality manufacturing projects.
