Job description

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Autonomy Systems Test Engineer to help accelerate product development by ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of autonomous driving software.

In this role, you’ll support the development and execution of test plans for autonomous driving features, help improve simulation-based testing workflows, and assist with the analysis of software behavior across offline and on-vehicle testing environments. You’ll work closely with software, systems, and QA teams to investigate issues, validate new functionality, and help ensure software quality continues to scale alongside future product milestones.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to build expertise in autonomous systems testing. They enjoy solving technical problems, working with data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve software quality.

As a Autonomy Systems Test Engineer, you'll:
  • Support the development and execution of test plans for autonomous driving and self-driving behavior features.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of simulation-based test scenarios and validation workflows.
  • Execute synthetic and log-based test scenarios using in-house simulation platforms and testing frameworks.
  • Analyze test results to identify regressions, investigate failures, and validate software functionality across releases.
  • Help develop and improve automated testing methodologies and validation metrics.
  • Assist with triage activities by gathering, analyzing, and communicating findings from multiple testing platforms and validation pipelines.
  • Collaborate with software, systems, and QA teams to identify, track, and resolve testing and validation issues.
  • Contribute to QA initiatives and process improvements that support scalable testing and validation efforts.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related discipline
  • 1+ years of experience developing and implementing software or systems testing strategies
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and test automation methodologies
  • Proficiency with Python or other scripting languages
  • Experience working with Jira, Git, Linux command-line tools, or similar development and testing environments
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and prioritization abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment

Bonus Qualifications:
  • Experience testing robotics, autonomous vehicle, automotive, aerospace, or other safety-critical systems
  • Familiarity with simulation-based testing and systems validation methodologies
  • Knowledge of ISO 26262 or other functional safety standards
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or similar coding assistants

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
