ALA is dedicated to Enhancing Care in the Community, helping people be healthy, well and independent in their homes and communities. Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides services through five main program areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services and Specialty Programs. Specialty Programs include Community Rehabilitation Interdisciplinary Services (CRIS); Adult Urban Palliative End of Life (UPEOL); Adult Day Program (ADP)/Comprehensive Home Option of Integrated Care for the Elderly (CHOICE) and Children’s Home Care (CHC). CHC is a multidisciplinary team collaborating and delivering services in the community to children from birth – 18 years old with a wide variety of medical and/or developmental needs/conditions, including palliative care. If you are interested in providing advanced administrative support to the Program Managers of Children’s Home Care & the Adult Urban Palliative End of Life Program, this position may be of interest. As the successful candidate, you will report to & work independently under the guidance and direction of the Program Managers. Substantial skills will be required to address escalated issues and act as a delegate in the absence of management on operational issues where established processes or guidelines may not be available. Your varied duties may include providing leadership, education, mentorship, training & back-up support to other program admin staff; collecting, validating, manipulating and performing calculations on data or information (financial and/or operational) from multiple sources to produce a variety of reports & business documents (briefing notes, monthly/annual reports); financial invoice preparation, office site management; supporting the recruitment process; and interacting/engaging with external stakeholders.

As an Administrative Support V, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Required Qualifications: Completion of post-secondary education ( certificate in office or business administration).
Additional Required Qualifications: Applicants must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint software programs. Exceptional attention to detail with excellent formatting, grammar, and proofreading skills. Must have the ability to deal with numerous interruptions and work independently in a busy multi-tasking environment – adapting to changing priorities as required. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent Customer Service. Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills. Physical demands of the job include sitting for extended periods, lifting office/medical supplies and equipment weighing up to 14 kgs, using repetitive motions, lifting, bending, reaching and standing for prolonged periods. At the time of interview, you may be required to demonstrate your computer knowledge and proficiency by completing a hands-on skills test. You must demonstrate sufficient typing speed to meet workload demand and navigate through various computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Visio, Outlook and Internet.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous Continuing Care experience. An intermediate knowledge of MS-Excel, MS-Visio, and MS-Project. Basic knowledge of e-people, Oracle, Connect Care and WFM (Work Force Management).
