Shift Time: 8:00am to 4:30pm (In-Office)

Terms: Permanent Full-Time

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Reports To: Operations Manager

Salary Range: $50,000.00 to $65,000.00

Job Purpose:

The Operations Coordinator plays a key role in our transportation operations, responsible for planning and executing full truckload (FTL) and less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments across Canada and the United States. As a valued team member, this individual ensures world class service levels for our clients by managing carrier relationships, negotiating rates, and proactively tracking shipments to completion.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support company Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) by proactively contributing to initiatives that drive strategic goals and organizational success
  • Live our company core values and support a well-organized, respectful, and service-focused work environment
  • Arranging transport of import and export FTL and LTL shipments within and between Canada and the USA
  • Negotiating rates with Carriers
  • Quoting Customers
  • Track and trace shipments to destination
  • Communicating shipment details with customers and agents
  • Submitting documents to Customs Brokers
  • Arranging local pickups and deliveries
  • Calculating revenue and costs on shipment files

Mindset & Personality:

  • Customer Service Oriented: Client focused and provides exceptional experience for our customers
  • Responsive: Committed to a high level of responsiveness both inside our business and with our customers and vendors
  • Proactive: Takes initiative and an organized approach to day-to-day operations as well as future needs


Professional & Educational Background:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with Transborder Operations in the 3PL industry
  • Knowledge of National LTL/FTL type systems (I.e. Forward Air, Polaris, XPO)
  • Intermodal handling considered an asset
  • Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • General knowledge of Canada & USA Customs cross border practices & procedures
  • Working knowledge of Loadlink
  • Experience with Tradeshow and White glove freight


Skills & Ability:

  • Communication: Has good listening skills and communicates effectively in both written and verbal formats including proficiency in spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Organization: Must be highly organized and detail-oriented when dealing with our fast- paced environment
  • Multi-tasking: Must have strong multi-tasking abilities, be proactive and adaptable based on the needs of the company and our client
  • Problem-solving: Strong ability to ‘think outside the box’ when dealing with complex requirements for clients
