About us:

The Dalla Lana School of Public Health is a Faculty of the University of Toronto that originated as one of the Schools of Hygiene begun by the Rockefeller Foundation in 1927. The School, which plays a critical role in the COVID-19 pandemic response, went through a dramatic renaissance after the 2003 SARS crisis and it is now the largest public health school in Canada, with more than 850 faculty, 1,000 students, and research and training partnerships with institutions throughout Toronto and the world. With $53.3 million in research funding per year, the School contributes to improving population health and health policy and health systems through discoveries and innovation in data science and AI, maternal, child and reproductive health, climate change, implementation and improvement sciences, preventable disease through vaccines and prevention through wellness such as with diabetes, comparative health policy, sustainable and equitable health systems, global andIndigenous health, among many other areas. This past year, $10 million philanthropic dollars was raised for research, education and knowledge translation, and the over 7000 alumni were deeply engaged through events and networking opportunities.

Your opportunity:

The Centre for Research Expertise in Occupational Disease (CREOD) is one of six research centre funded by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. CREOD was originally founded in 2004 and since this time has supported the Ontario occupational health and safety system through its research, training, and leadership activities. CREOD is the primary Ontario (and beyond) source for evidence-based non-malignant occupational disease prevention strategies, particularly in relation to workplace exposures. The CREOD vision is to better understand and prevent occupational disease.

As the Research Project Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the Centre for Research Expertise in Occupational Disease (CREOD) by coordinating research administration, funding activities, and stakeholder engagement initiatives. Working closely with researchers, government funders, and external partners, you will facilitate grant application and reporting processes, support knowledge translation activities, and help advance the Centre's research priorities. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to impactful occupational disease research while supporting collaborative partnerships across academia, healthcare, and government.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting researchers in identifying and pursuing external funding opportunities by coordinating grant application processes, preparing application materials, and ensuring submissions comply with sponsor guidelines and deadlines.
  • Fostering collaborative relationships with researchers, government funders, health system partners, and other stakeholders and assist them in identifying and pursuing funding opportunities to support occupational disease research
  • Coordinating project activities including tracking milestones, and deliverables to support reporting requirements for the Centre’s commitments under funding agreements.
  • Contributing to grant and program reporting by compiling research outputs, including publications, citations, policy impacts, and other performance metrics.
  • Supporting knowledge translation activities including formatting and verifying manuscripts, preparing reports, editing website content, coordinating newsletters, and social media communications.
  • Coordinating meetings, events, and stakeholder engagement activities by preparing agendas and materials, documenting action items, and supporting follow-up activities.
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation, databases, and digital content while providing administrative and operational support to advance the Centre's research and outreach activities.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years relevant research project coordination experience in an academic or health care environment
  • Experience coordinating research funding applications in accordance with sponsor guidelines, and supporting grant submission and reporting processes.
  • Experience coordinating research projects involving multiple stakeholders, including researchers, external partners, and funding agencies.
  • Experience preparing, editing, and coordinating a variety of communications and knowledge translation materials, such as reports, publications, website content, newsletters, and social media posts.
  • Experience tracking project activities, maintaining databases, compiling reports, and analyzing or summarizing research-related information.
  • Experience coordinating meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities, including preparing agendas, materials, and follow-up documentation.
  • Experience in submitting Research Ethics applications.
  • Proficiency with creating and editing statistical reports and summaries.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, including, strong proof-reading and editing skills
  • Ability to assess processes and procedures, utilize critical thinking and synthesize information from multiple sources
  • Ability to exercise initiative, tact, discretion, problem-solving skills and to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively within cross-disciplinary teams
