Job description

We are actively sourcing an experienced Construction Project Manager for a contract role overseeing a varied portfolio of facility and infrastructure initiatives. The successful candidate will navigate multiple projects simultaneously, such as laboratory installations, exterior door replacements, and HVAC upgrades, managing an estimated 430 hours of project management effort. This hybrid engagement mandates on-site attendance as required by project milestones, with the initial contract concluding on March 31, 2027, alongside potential avenues for extension into the next fiscal year.

Advantages
A flexible hybrid work model that balances remote tasks with necessary on-site inspections, construction coordination, and stakeholder meetings. The opportunity to drive meaningful capital projects and infrastructure improvements within a complex, multi-stakeholder operational environment.

Responsibilities
Direct assigned infrastructure initiatives through their entire lifecycle, encompassing planning, design, procurement, execution, commissioning, and handover. Oversee project budgets by diligently tracking commitments, expenditures, forecasts, and contingencies to ensure efficient resource utilization. Facilitate collaboration among internal stakeholders and external partners, actively managing the performance of specialty consultants, general contractors, and equipment suppliers. Ensure all construction and renovation activities are carefully sequenced to minimize operational disruptions in occupied and active facilities.

Qualifications
Substantial proven experience steering construction, building infrastructure, and renovation projects concurrently through multiple phases of delivery. Deep knowledge of construction procurement, tendering processes, contract administration, commissioning, and regulatory building codes. Strong proficiency in developing detailed scopes of work and accurately interpreting technical information from architectural drawings and specifications. Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and vendor-management capabilities, coupled with the ability to escalate emerging risks and budget pressures appropriately. A Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or relevant construction-focused professional education is highly preferred.

Summary
This contract opportunity is ideal for a proactive project manager who thrives in complex environments, can independently validate project statuses, and expertly balances technical deliverables with strict financial constraints. If you match the qualifications for the role with Canadian experience please email paul.rabel@randstad.ca. Only qualified candidates matching the listed criteria will be contacted.
