Are we right for you...

We’re passionate about people and creating sustainable, safe and affordable public transit solutions to residents across BC. We are an organization that has a people-first approach and considers people first in every business decision that we make. We are part of the solution and what we do matters; from fighting climate change with battery electric buses, to affordability through cost effective transportation, to connecting remote communities, we bring the heart, soul and innovation to public transportation.

It’s an exciting time to be in the public transportation sector and we’re looking for a creative and passionate leader to join our team. Not only would you be joining an engaged organization, but you’d also get to enjoy flexible work arrangements, extended benefits and a pension plan as just a few of the benefits BC Transit employees are eligible for. Keep reading to find out if this role is meant for you!

What you'll be doing...

Reporting to the Director, Integrated Asset Planning, the Manager, Fleet Planning is accountable for the strategy, planning, and long-range acquisition plans that shape BC Transit's provincial fleet. You'll lead the development of fleet strategies across all vehicle categories, guiding investment decisions that support service reliability, service expansion, affordability, and environmental sustainability.

You'll be responsible for developing BC Transit’s pathway to a zero-emission fleet, leading transition plans that integrate fleet, infrastructure, operations, and information technology requirements across 48 transit systems throughout British Columbia. The phased adoption of emerging fleet technologies is a key focus of the role, requiring strategic thinking, collaboration, and the ability to assess multiple variables.

This role also provides strategic oversight of provincial fleet administration functions, including fleet allocations, fleet moves, asset administration, fleet budgeting, and capital planning inputs. As BC Transit’s lead authority on fleet strategy, you'll provide evidence-based recommendations, business cases, and investment analysis to support executive and governance-level decision making.

For additional information about the full accountabilities of this position please review the Manager, Fleet Planning Job Description.

What you'll bring to the table...

We value lifelong learners and have found that a mix of any of the following credentials have set people up for success in this role in the past:

  • Post secondary degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Related experience in fleet management, transportation planning, or asset management
  • Experience leading a dynamic team and facilitating collaboration with others
  • A high degree of initiative and an inquisitive mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior decision-makers and build alignment among stakeholders
  • Experience with business case development and analytics, including budget development, total cost of ownership, and scenario modelling
  • Knowledge of fleet planning principles, strategies, and market trends in public transportation
  • Knowledge of fleet platforms, zero-emission technologies, and emerging transit vehicle technology

What we'll bring to the table...

We value and prioritize personal wellness and offer comprehensive benefits to support all the important phases and milestones of your journey:

  • Comprehensive medical and dental benefits to support you and your family, regardless of what life throws at you
  • Membership in BC’s Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP). Nationally recognized for its strong investment and governance practices, PSPP is a “defined benefit” plan
  • Access to fitness and lifestyle centers to help you take care of your physical fitness and health
  • Various programs that support employees such as an Employee Assistance Program and health and wellness initiatives and events aimed at fostering your mental health
  • A complimentary employee bus pass (plus taxable dependent passes)
  • A corporate learning and development program to help you in continuous career growth
  • An employee recognition program where we all recognize each other's successes (not just your Leaders!)
  • A social club that gives you access to events throughout Victoria

What next steps could look like...

  • Interviews will be conducted the week of August 24th, 2026.
  • An eligibility list for future full time regular and temporary full time vacancies may be established
  • The position requires the completion of a Criminal Record Check or Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • If you have a disability that requires an accommodation during any stage of our recruitment process, please let us know how we can assist you by contacting careers@bctransit.com
  • BC Transit is committed to providing access, equal opportunity and reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities. If the organization identifies this position as a reasonable accommodation for an existing employee, all candidates will be notified as soon as reasonably possible

At BC Transit, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace; if you’re excited about this role and you have a combination of education and experience that you feel would fulfill its requirements, we encourage you to apply. In keeping with this belief, we do not discriminate on any basis. Should you require any accommodation or have questions, please let us know.
