Job descriptionOversee human resources functions, including health and safety, recruitment, terminations, performance management, attendance management, and training for approximately 25 unionized plant employees and three administrative staff. Cultivate a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration. Coordinate job-specific and safety training for employees to enhance skills and compliance. Address employee concerns and issues fairly and consistently to maintain trust and morale. Foster a well-trained, motivated workforce through effective coaching and development initiatives. Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Experience in lumber manufacturing is considered an asset. Proven ability to train and direct staff, motivating and developing team members while setting and monitoring performance standards. Strong coaching and team-building skills. Excellent organizational abilities with a knack for managing competing priorities effectively. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with both internal and external parties. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and ERP systems. Minimum five or more years’ skilled maintenance experience is an asset Able to perform physical aspects of duties such as bending, lifting, and reaching during course of shift. Able to lift up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms. Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills. Must have steel-toed boots. Red Seal Millwright endorsement is preferred Will consider candidates without Red Seal if you have significant welding experience in a manufacturing or production environment Base salary Group pension plan Health benefits Monday to Friday May be required to work early or late hours, or evenings, statutory holidays, or weekends as necessary.

SUMMARY
The Plant Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the treating plant's operations. Reporting to the General Manager, this position includes coordinating daily plant activities and scheduling production to achieve corporate objectives, achieve environmental standards, and ensure compliance to quality control measures. The primary goal is to produce high-quality treated lumber products while ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
This is a hands-on position requiring a leader who will roll up their sleeves and lead by example. Approximately 25 staff report to this position. The position requires a team builder who will spend 80% of their time on the plant floor and 20% of their time performing administrative responsibilities..
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
PLANT OPERATIONS
- Oversee daily production activities, set production goals, and identify opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, and equipment reliability.
- Lead daily safety meetings to promote a culture of safety within the plant and maintain a clean and safe working environment for all employees.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained to meet quality, productivity, and reliability standards and minimize downtime.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts, providing technical expertise to identify problems and implement effective solutions; manage and prioritize projects in a cost-effective manner.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to plant operations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to coordinate inventories, production schedules, and shipping.
- Actively participate in weekly production meetings to discuss goals and performance.
- Adhere to all workplace safety rules and regulations.
