At TC Energy, we are proud to connect the world to the energy it needs. Guided by our values of safety in every step, personal accountability, one team and active learning, we deliver the critical energy that North America and the world rely on while balancing reliability, affordability and sustainability.

The Opportunity

The Asset Performance Team within Predictive Insights seeks a Performance Engineer to design, specify, model, and analyze reciprocating and centrifugal compressors and their associated drivers. Reporting to the Asset Performance Manager, you will develop and maintain advanced performance models while leveraging real-time data and analytics to optimize TC Energy's fleet of over 1,100 compressors. This role requires strong technical expertise combined with excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.

What you'll do

  • Build, test, and deploy compressor and driver models for new compression units; update models following modernization and upgrade projects
  • Develop and design compressor configurations for growth/modernization projects and daily operations in collaboration with vendors
  • Monitor performance and acceptance testing for new rotating compression equipment
  • Investigate and resolve Performance Anomaly Detection Program alerts, document findings and corrective actions
  • Support ACI controls and second processor installations during compressor control upgrades
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Reliability Application for Compressor Reporting (RACR) issues
  • Research and implement improvements to operational emissions intensity through design and optimization
  • Contribute to the design and development of future Asset Surveillance system compressor performance modules
  • Present compressor design options to key stakeholders based on pipeline operations expertise
  • Collaborate with Predictive Insights, Operations Technical Services, Commercial Operations, and Field Operations teams to drive short- and long-term asset performance improvements
  • Perform additional tasks as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • 6+ years of related experience in compressor performance, modeling, or equivalent responsibilities
  • Must be registered, or eligible to be registered, as a professional engineer (P. Eng) with APEGA for Canadian candidates
  • Demonstrated knowledge of natural gas pipeline operations and associated systems
  • Proven expertise in compressor model development, tuning, and performance analysis
  • Strong understanding of compressor design and specification for pipeline and storage applications
  • Detailed knowledge of gas turbines, reciprocating engines, and combustion principles
  • Ability to read and interpret PLC logic
  • Experience presenting to and collaborating with diverse stakeholders and cross-functional teams
  • Willingness to challenge industry standards and embrace change
  • Strong problem-solving, data analysis, and decision-making capabilities
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACI eRCM Pro and Ariel 7 software experience
  • Aveva PI System tools proficiency
  • Python or C# programming experience for performance analytics automation
  • Experience with centrifugal and reciprocating compressor controls
  • Background in automation, controls, or electrical systems
  • Process improvement experience
