MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to join its growing residential division. Known for delivering thoughtfully designed, high-quality communities, this developer has built a strong presence across Metro Vancouver with a significant pipeline of projects in both planning and active construction.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent will play a key role in supporting day-to-day site operations on residential high-rise projects. This individual will help ensure construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedules, design specifications, and quality standards.

This role is well-suited for someone with strong field experience who is looking to step into a leadership-focused position with increased responsibility and exposure to complex, large-scale developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Site Superintendent in overseeing all on-site construction activities, including coordination of trades, suppliers, and labour
  • Assist in managing site crews, ensuring productivity, quality, and adherence to project timelines
  • Review ongoing work to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, building codes, and company standards
  • Monitor and help maintain construction schedules, identifying and addressing potential delays proactively
  • Promote and enforce health and safety policies, contributing to a strong safety culture on site
  • Prepare and maintain daily logs, progress reports, and production records
  • Assist with maintaining up-to-date project documentation, including RFIs, change orders, drawings, and subcontractor records
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with trades, consultants, and internal teams
  • Attend site meetings with project stakeholders including consultants, architects, and engineers as required
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating concrete pours and related activities
  • Liaise with municipal inspectors and consultants, supporting inspections and ensuring compliance
  • Contribute to overall site organization, cleanliness, and operational efficiency
  • Perform additional duties as required to support project success

Qualifications & Experience

  • 6–8+ years of experience in the construction industry, ideally in roles such as Lead Hand or Foreman
  • Experience working on concrete high-rise residential projects is strongly preferred
  • Red Seal certification or equivalent hands-on trade experience is considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and scheduling
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory capabilities in a site-based environment
  • Solid problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with concrete take-offs is an asset

Why Join This Team

  • Opportunity to work on large-scale, high-profile residential developments
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment with strong mentorship
  • Long-term career growth within a stable and expanding organization
  • Commitment to employee development and continuous learning
  • A culture that values hard work, innovation, and making a meaningful impact in the community
