Job description
We are searching for an experienced Controller (located in the west end of the GTA) on behalf of our client, a global Tier 1 automotive manufacturer of components and assemblies to the automotive and other industrial markets. This position will act as a Controller to ensure financial reporting is carried out in accordance to Company guidelines at specific divisions. This position will oversee all the accounting functions of the organization, including accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, and other functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzes and reports variances.
  • Responsible for preparation and review of consolidated financial reports, including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statements, capital spending and intercompany balances.
  • Is responsible for compliance with all federal, provincial, and local corporate, and other applicable taxes.
  • Furnishes internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary.
  • Ensures that corporate accounting policies are followed by the divisions and that internal compliance measures are taken and results reported to the executive branch of the organization.
  • The Controller has the responsibility of providing effective financial controls for the organization
  • The Controller will have regular communication with all other divisional controllers including all international locations
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Business Degree in finance or related field is a requirement.
  • CPA Designation or equivalent experience is a requirement
  • Experience in areas such as: audit, corporate financial reporting, product valuation methods, month-end closing procedures, year-end closing procedures, external audit preparation. As well as experience with applied knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, month-end close, and variance analysis.
  • MUST have a minimum of 5 years direct experience with financial roles with Automotive manufacturing.
  • New-plant finance set-up is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with budgeting, internal controls, and audit; solid GAAP/ASPE knowledge.
  • ERP proficiency (SAP preferred); advanced Excel; practical experience using AI tools in finance work an asset.
  • Ability to travel internationally is a must.

  • Knowledge of business KPI measurements
  • Experienced user of spreadsheets, powerpoint, word, and analytic applications.
  • Mandarin is considered a strong asset
  • International business exposure to; US, Mexico, Europe, China desired.
