Reporting to the Senior Controller, the Assistant Controller (Tomlinson Environmental Group) is a leadership role in the Finance department with a focus on financial operations for Tomlinson’s environmental divisions that includes completing month-end / year-end closing procedures, capital plan guidance, forecasting and responsible for providing value added & timely financial reporting and analysis to drive management decisions.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, is self-motivated, has a willingness to learn and adapt to change, sound business judgement and exhibited financial acumen.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Perform month end / year end close procedures to provide accurate financial statements
Produce and present monthly business review package to senior executive management
Review and ensure balance sheet is reconciled monthly
Work with divisional leadership to complete annual forecast & quarterly outlook updates
Advise & assist in preparing divisional annual capital plan
Key contact with auditors
Direct supervision of a Senior Accountant and Intermediate Accountant
Produce regulatory compliance reports for fuel tax, etc.
Advise operational team on financial & administrative policies and procedures
Monitor and analyze the financial operations of the division to ensure compliance with budgets and forecasts
Assist in expense management and approval process as required (i.e. credit card purchases, expense reimbursements, vendor commitments, etc.)
Act as escalation point for aged AR collections
Other duties, audit support and adhoc analysis as needed
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Standard office environment
Additional hours may be required during the month-end, or year-end reporting cycles
May be required to travel occasionally to other divisional locations
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
CPA designation is required
University or College degree / diploma in a related field
3-5 years of relevant industry and financial experience working in a mid to large company;
Previous supervisory experience would be an asset;
Strong working knowledge of MS office : Excel, PowerPoint, Word;
Strong Interpersonal / communication skills with the ability to work effectively with different levels of the organization;
Knowledge of finance, accounting, and cost control principles
Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications, SAP knowledge would be an asset
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
Analytical skills;
Thoroughness and attention to detail;
Knowledge of the environmental industries is an asset;
Work requires willingness to sometimes work a flexible schedule
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The expected salary range for this position is $85,000 - $135,000 annually. Placement within the range is dependant on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
