Job description

Term of App't: Regular, full-time (30 hours/week)

Start date: August 4, 2026

Reporting to: Dean, Academics

Salary:

$78,098.00 - $88,536.00 annually in accordance with the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement, with annual increments up to a maximum salary of $114,001.00. This position is entitled to 240 hours of vacation annually, pro-rated and front-loaded, in addition to paid time off between the Christmas and New Year's Day. We offer an extremely competitive extended health and dental benefits program. Enrolment in the College Pension Plan is mandatory, with contributions matched by the Employer.

Description:

NLC's University Arts and Sciences Department requires a regular full-time instructor to teach a variety of courses within the Environmental and Restoration programs.

Four programs comprise the Environmental bundle:

  1. Environmental Site Assessment Certificate
  2. Environmental Restoration Diploma
  3. Associate of Science – Environmental Science Degree
  4. Associate of Science Degree

The successful candidate's teaching workload will include, but is not limited to, the following courses:

  • LAND 227 Wildlife Habitat Conservation
  • LAND 241 Petroleum Fundamentals
  • LAND 245 Inventory and Assessment
  • LAND 255 Land Reclamation
  • LAND 290/5 Practicum
  • SOIL 117 Soil Fundamentals
  • SOIL 230 Soil Classification
  • WATR 250 Freshwater Resources
  • WATR 260 Water Mensuration

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in Environmental Science; or a closely related discipline (such as Ecology, Forestry, or Natural Resource Management)
  • Five years of work experience in a related discipline, including a significant amount of field work as part of the work experience.
  • A commitment to engaging diverse learners through various forms of delivery (e.g., face-to-face, online - Desire2Learn, web-conferencing, etc.);
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member through collaborative approaches to course pedagogy.

Preferred:

  • Ph.D. in Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program, or an equivalent credential in adult education, or a readiness to pursue such a credential.
  • Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students.
