Position Description

  • Day-to-day accounting and financial functions
  • Manage finance department, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll
  • Offer expertise and wisdom to senior management.
  • Act as the main liaison with key external partners such as financial institutions managers, accountants, suppliers and leasing representatives
  • Management of cash flow : daily balances, month-end reconciliations, preparation of projections, oversee investment balances and maturities
  • Financial Reporting : financial statements, budget preparation, liaise with external accounting partner re : year end review, financial statement preparation, and income tax return filing, T4 and EHT considerations
  • Daily accounting responsibilities : supervise AR, collaborate with AP admin as it pertains to invoicing, take ownership over record systems maintenance and best practices, oversee tax law compliance in conjunction with financial regulations, account reconciliation and journaling, manage POS terminals
  • Payroll : your existing expertise with payroll processing will be leveraged in guiding the payroll administrator with their monthly payroll responsibilities
  • Purchasing : ensuring classroom and office supplies are well-stocked with required supplies, oblige PO requests from various departments, take ownership over leased equipment contracts
  • Planning : probe for opportunities for cost savings, revisit established accounting policies and procedures, accounting software and systems, and make recommendations surrounding areas for improvement if / where possible
  • Experience

  • Excellent leadership and people-management acumen
  • Keen eye for financial reporting, analysis and decision-making
  • Appropriate sense of accountability surrounding financial items pertaining to the organization
  • Prior experience with education institutions is an asset
  • Expertise with financial software(s)
  • Qualifications

    CPA designation or equivalent
