Averaging Agreement : Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Hours: Continental Nights (1900 - 0700 hrs)

Payrate: $18.73/hrs

Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is shaping the future of care, designing a more integrated healthcare system for one of Canada’s most diverse communities. For more than 850,000 people throughout the eastern Greater Toronto Area, this will mean quicker access to the safest, highest quality healthcare, right here in Scarborough. We operate three full-service hospitals and several community-based locations, with essential services including emergency, diagnostic imaging, surgery, and rehabilitation care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
  • Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
  • Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
  • Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
  • Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
  • Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
  • Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
  • Covid Vaccine two doses
  • Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
  • Must be able to Clean Shave for N-95 Mask
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Education Requirements (All)

Post secondary education in law enforcement from a recognized institution or equivalent experience is an asset
Education in Law Enforcement or equivalent
Minimum of a Police Foundations Diploma

Certification Requirements (All)

First Aid, CPR Level C
Valid Ontario Security License
COVID Double Vaccinated
Immunization Record for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella and two step TB skin test
