We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Development Specialist (Front End) for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a premier engineering capacity within the digital product and front-end development streams, specializing in the design, custom development, and architectural refactoring of high-visibility public portals and secure client search frameworks.

As a principal front-end expert, you will bridge the gap between creative user interfaces and highly secure backend architectures. Operating within a hybrid work model, you will drive the integration of responsive web layers with RESTful web services, manage structural layout behaviors, and implement strict data-handling protocols for confidential collections. This role is designed for a self-directed developer who can provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary project teams, ensure top-tier web accessibility compliance, and build high-performance public portals that scale.

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - Remote with occasional onsite)

Assignment Type: Full-time, 7 hours per day, 5 days per week

Contract Duration: 6 months (with a 6-month optional extension)

Responsibilities
Front-End Engineering & Portal Modernization
Design, develop, upgrade, test, and implement high-quality software components for public-facing portals and secure web search experiences.

Construct reusable web components and responsive layouts that scale seamlessly across desktop online layouts and mobile devices.

Formulate robust data-fetching mechanics to integrate front-end user interfaces smoothly with backend RESTful APIs processing JSON and XML structures.

Configure automated communication paths, data-validation layers, and secure submission workflows to protect sensitive user documentation and special forms.

Technical Architecture & System Governance
Act as an independent technical authority to define application architectures, system frameworks, and software integration approaches.

Author and update highly organized technical documentation, including comprehensive system blueprints, structural design workbooks, and implementation specifications.

Execute thorough root cause analyses during unanticipated system blocks, providing rapid debugging recommendations and technical fixes to preserve platform runtime availability.

Lead development estimation pipelines, assist with technical task scoping, and advise management on evolving software release plans.

Compliance, Accessibility & Quality Assurance
Ensure all web architectures strictly adhere to digital web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.x AA and AODA) utilizing semantic layout tags and WAI-ARIA frameworks.

Design and execute end-to-end testing cycles, including unit validation, functional checks, integration verifications, regression passes, and security vulnerability testing.

Analyze automated test suite outcomes, trace environment performance bugs, and compile detailed quality assurance reports for technical and business stakeholders.

Triage and resolve system defects, layout anomalies, and inbound platform enhancements to optimize user experience and backend interface alignment.

Provide active professional mentoring, developer code reviews, and structured knowledge transfer documentation to cross-functional engineering squads.

Qualifications
Core Technical & Front-End Requirements
Professional Frontend Development Tenure: Extensive experience operating as a Senior Front End Developer or Technical Lead building large-scale, high-traffic information technology applications.

Web Ecosystem Mastery: Deep, hands-on expertise building Single Page Applications (SPAs) utilizing HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), jQuery, and Bootstrap.

Modern Frameworks & Web Components: Proven track record designing interfaces with modular web engines and architectural libraries (such as React, Backbone, or Stencil.js).

API Integration Depth: High proficiency executing asynchronous data ingestion and interface connectivity with RESTful APIs handling JSON and XML data payloads.

Database & Diagnostic Savvy: Exceptional critical thinking and diagnostic capabilities to run root-cause analysis, isolate browser compatibility constraints, and evaluate system data integrity.

Specialized Accessibility & Testing Attributes
Digital Accessibility Champion: Extensive practical experience engineering digital solutions that strictly align with web accessibility legislation (AODA, WCAG 2.x AA, and WAI-ARIA specifications) across desktop and mobile platforms.

Lifecycle Validation Capability: Thorough knowledge of running multi-tier testing matrices (unit, functional, integration, regression, and data security tests) along with managing UAT feedback loops.

DevOps & Repositories: Practical familiarity managing version control systems, feature branch architectures, and deployment pipelines within structured Agile environments.

Education & Professional Leadership
Education: Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline, or an equivalent combination of verified education and hands-on technical experience.

Consultative Articulation: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with polished ease when presenting detailed technical solutions and option diagrams to diverse stakeholders.
