Position Description:

CGI is seeking a highly skilled Senior SDET to join our Quality Engineering practice and help drive the delivery of high-quality, reliable software solutions through modern test automation. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and execution of scalable automation frameworks for web, API, and backend applications while partnering closely with software development, DevOps, and product teams throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). You will play a key role in embedding quality engineering practices into CI/CD pipelines, improving automation maturity, and mentoring team members on modern testing strategies. This position is ideal for an experienced quality engineering professional with 8 or more years of experience in test automation or SDET roles and strong expertise in Playwright, API automation, microservices testing, and continuous integration. Experience supporting complex enterprise applications within regulated industries such as financial services, banking, healthcare, payments, or other compliance-driven environments is considered a strong asset. This opportunity is available in any of our Atlantic Canada offices, including Halifax, NS; Moncton or Fredericton, NB; Stratford, PEI; and St. John's, NL.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for web, API, and backend applications.
• Develop and execute end-to-end automated test suites using Playwright and modern automation practices.
• Build automated API, integration, and contract testing solutions for RESTful services and microservices architectures.
• Implement cross-browser and cross-device testing strategies to ensure consistent user experiences.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.
• Perform database validation, test data management, and data reconciliation using SQL and relational databases.
• Develop reusable automation libraries, utilities, and testing components to improve efficiency and maintainability.
• Collaborate with software developers, DevOps teams, product owners, and business stakeholders to define and implement quality strategies.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, provide technical leadership through code reviews, and mentor junior quality engineering team members.
• Analyze test results, communicate quality risks, and recommend continuous improvements to enhance software reliability and delivery.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8 or more years of experience in Software Quality Engineering, Test Automation, or SDET roles.
• Strong programming experience using TypeScript, Java, and SQL.
• Proven hands-on expertise with Playwright for end-to-end test automation.
• Experience building API automation frameworks using REST Assured, Postman, requests, or similar technologies.
• Experience testing modern web applications built using Angular, React, or other single-page application frameworks.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, service integration testing, and contract testing.
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.
• Working knowledge of Linux environments, Shell scripting, and DevOps practices.
• Strong experience with database validation and SQL-based data verification.
• Experience working within Agile and Scrum delivery environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members and promote quality engineering best practices.

Assets
The following qualifications would be considered assets:
• Experience working within banking, capital markets, payments, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
• Experience modernizing legacy automation frameworks using Playwright.
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift environments.
• Experience with SonarQube and automated code quality practices.
• Familiarity with performance testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling.
