Job description
Kelly is hiring!
We're looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals to join our client’s team as a Controller in Welland, ON!
In this full-time, permanent role, you’ll help our client with their Accounting and Finance needs.
What You’ll Do:
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, inventory costing, and general ledger management.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Analyze financial data to inform business decisions regarding planning, equipment investment, energy usage, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Manage internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and certifications (e.g., food safety, organic certification, environmental sustainability).
  • Supervise staff involved in accounting and finance functions.
  • Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors and consultants.
  • Support grant applications and funding opportunities by preparing financial documentation.
  • Lead cost analysis and track metrics related to crop yield, labor, and utility consumption.
  • Oversee financial aspects of capital improvement projects, technology upgrades, and farm expansions.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to align financial performance with production goals.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance; previous experience in controlled environment agriculture, manufacturing, or food production a plus.
  • Proficient in accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar) and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Passion for sustainability, technology, and innovative agriculture.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Compensation:
  • Salary of $80,000-$100,000
