Position Overview

We are seeking a contractor to support onsite data collection, AI system validation, and remote annotation efforts across multiple customer production facilities in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). This role involves capturing image and operational data in live industrial environments during production runs, maintenance windows, commissioning activities, and validation exercises.

The contractor will represent Maneva onsite, following deployment engineer instructions to execute structured data collection and validation protocols across various manufacturing environments (e.g., food production, packaging, processing, or other industrial operations). While specific facilities and use cases may vary, the core objective remains consistent: support AI model training, validation, and continuous improvement through high-quality data collection and documentation.

When not onsite, the contractor will provide remote data annotation, documentation support, and model validation assistance. This role requires strong attention to detail, comfort working in industrial environments, and the ability to translate real-world observations into structured digital documentation that accelerates model iteration.

Responsibilities

Onsite Data Collection & System Validation

• Field Deployment: Travel to various customer facilities within a 2-hour driving radius of the Greater Toronto Area and Southeastern Ontario.
• Onsite Data Collection: Work independently or with a team to collect training & validation data to local vision systems - for example, introducing defect samples onto live conveyor lines based on priority lists.
• Record Keeping & Organization: Record precise timestamps for sample introduction, retrieve and sort samples for future activities.
• Performance Recording: Track and tabulate system performance results - for example, tallying the total defects introduced vs. total detected/ejected.
• Maneva Liaison: Act as the onsite representative, ensuring all data collection protocols provided by Maneva deployment engineers are followed strictly.

Remote Data Annotation & Analysis

• Annotation Support: Perform high-volume image labeling to train and improve AI models.
• Documentation: Author clear, structured annotation instruction documents based on onsite observations.
• Quality Assurance: Review existing annotations for accuracy and monitor deployed models for performance trends or inference issues.

Remote Data Annotation & Model Support

Annotation Execution:

• Perform structured, high-volume image labeling to support AI model training and improvement.
• Maintain accuracy and consistency across large annotation datasets.

Annotation Guidelines Development:

• Translate onsite observations into clear, structured annotation instructions.
• Help refine labeling standards based on real-world edge cases.

Quality Assurance:

• Review annotations for accuracy and consistency.
• Flag ambiguous or mislabeled examples.
• Monitor deployed model outputs for performance trends or inference issues.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain organized validation logs and structured documentation.
• Provide concise summaries of onsite findings to support rapid model iteration.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.

Scheduling & Structure

Flexible Hybrid Model

Onsite Assignments:

• Typically 3–8 hours per mission, depending on production schedules.
• May require 24 hours’ notice (or less).
• Work may occur outside regular business hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Occasional off-hour and weekend deployments should be expected.

Remote Work:

• When not deployed onsite, hours will be allocated toward remote annotation and documentation tasks.

Guaranteed Weekly Hours:

• Option for 20 hours/week or 40 hours/week.

Contract Duration:

• Initial 3-month term, with potential for extension based on project needs.
