About the Position

A restaurant in Caledon is looking for an experienced and dependable Restaurant Manager to lead the launch of a new breakfast service and manage daily restaurant operations.

We are looking for someone with strong restaurant experience who can take responsibility, build a reliable team, control costs and provide excellent customer service.

This is a hands-on management position. Before breakfast service begins, one of the manager’s first responsibilities will be to recruit, interview and hire qualified breakfast cooks and servers and make sure the team is properly trained and ready before opening.

Responsibilities Before Breakfast Launch:

• Recruit, interview and hire qualified breakfast cooks and servers.
• Build a reliable breakfast team before opening.
• Train new servers and kitchen staff.
• Create staff schedules and organize morning shifts.
• Make sure the restaurant is properly staffed before breakfast launches.
• Help organize the breakfast menu and kitchen workflow.
• Work with ownership and kitchen staff on portion sizes and food-cost control.
• Make sure necessary food, equipment and supplies are ready.
• Set up opening, closing and cleaning procedures.
• Make sure employees understand restaurant policies and expectations.
• Organize training and practice shifts before opening.
• Help plan and execute a successful breakfast launch.

Daily Management Duties:

• Manage day-to-day restaurant operations.
• Supervise front-of-house and kitchen staff.
• Hire, train, schedule and manage employees.
• Maintain proper staffing levels.
• Monitor employee attendance and performance.
• Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation and service.
• Handle customer concerns and complaints professionally.
• Monitor food costs, portion control and food waste.
• Control labour costs and scheduling.
• Manage inventory and ordering.
• Monitor POS transactions, discounts, refunds and voids.
• Oversee cash handling and daily sales procedures.
• Maintain restaurant cleanliness and organization.
• Ensure opening and closing duties are completed properly.
• Ensure food-safety and health-and-safety procedures are followed.
• Help develop breakfast specials and promotions.
• Help increase breakfast traffic, repeat customers, and sales.
• Provide regular updates to ownership regarding sales, staffing, costs, and operational issues.

Experience & Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of restaurant management or supervisory experience.
• Experience hiring, interviewing, training and scheduling restaurant staff.
• Experience managing both front-of-house and kitchen operations.
• Breakfast or brunch management experience is a strong asset.
• Strong understanding of food cost, labor cost, inventory, and waste control.
• Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and daily sales procedures.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Must be organized, reliable, and able to work independently.
• Food Handler Certification required.
• Smart Serve certification is required if duties involve alcohol service.
• Must provide 2 professional references from previous employers.
• Employment history and references will be verified.
• A successful candidate must be willing to complete a background check appropriate to the position.
• Must be available for early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
