Are you passionate about cars and driven to keep them running at their best? At Downtown Ford , part of the revolutionary Downtown AutoGroup (DAG), we're not just servicing cars. We're engineering trust, crafting reliability, and revolutionizing the automotive service experience. We're a community of skilled professionals who believe that maintaining a vehicle should be as rewarding as driving one.

We offer a dynamic and fast-paced environment where technology and innovation meet expert craftsmanship. Our team is committed to excellence, and we are looking for individuals who share our passion for cars and dedication to customer satisfaction. We’re changing the way people buy cars – be a part of it! Take a look at our unique approach and see for yourself!

Why we need you

You know that satisfying moment when a perfectly tuned engine purrs to life? That blend of precision, expertise, and mechanical harmony? That's what we live for. And that's where you come in.

Our vision at Downtown Ford is to create lifetime guests, not just one-time customers. To do that, we need someone extraordinary. Someone who doesn't just fix problems, but prevents them. Someone who sees beyond the immediate repair to the long-term performance of the vehicle. Someone who embodies our "fix it right the first time" attitude.

Without you, we're just another service center. With you, we're the guardians of our guests' automotive dreams, ensuring their vehicles are always ready for the next adventure.

Here's what you'll be doing

As an Apprentice Technician, you will work closely with experienced technicians to develop your mechanical skills and gain hands-on experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles. This role is perfect for those who are eager to learn, ready to get their hands dirty, and excited about advancing in the automotive field.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Hands-On Training: Work alongside senior technicians to learn all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance, including brake systems, transmissions, engine diagnostics, electrical systems, suspension, and more.
  • Vehicle Inspection: Assist in conducting thorough vehicle inspections to identify mechanical issues, wear and tear, and potential safety concerns.
  • Diagnostics and Repairs: Learn to use advanced diagnostic equipment and software to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems, ensuring vehicles are repaired to the highest standards.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, battery replacements, and fluid top-ups.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with service advisors and team members to ensure smooth workflow and customer satisfaction.
  • Safety and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and safe workspace, adhering to all company and industry safety standards.

This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected. It is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required by the incumbent. Incumbent may be asked to perform other duties as required.

You need these qualifications

  • Passion for Automobiles: A genuine interest in the automotive industry and a desire to build a long-term career as a skilled technician.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Enrollment in or completion of an automotive-related vocational program is a plus.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail when working with complex systems.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with team members and customers in a clear and professional manner.
  • Physical Ability: Comfortable with standing, bending, lifting heavy objects, and working in a physically demanding environment.
  • Basic Knowledge: Familiarity with vehicle service requirements, automotive tools, parts, and systems is a plus, but not required. Training will be provided.
  • Valid Ontario G Driver’s License with no demerit points.

What we offer

  • Performance-Driven Culture: We celebrate achievements and foster a results-oriented work environment.
  • Career Growth: We’re committed to helping our team members grow their careers with us - we believe in promoting from within.
  • Community: Be part of a team that’s as passionate about cars as you are, in one of the most vibrant cities in the world.
  • Competitive Pay: We value your contributions and ensure you're rewarded accordingly.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, and vision coverage, along with a Parts & Service Discount and a generous Vehicle Purchase Program.
  • Professional Development: Ongoing training opportunities to keep your skills sharp and your career on track through our DAG Academy.
  • Modern Facility: Work in a clean, organized, and well-equipped shop that prioritizes safety and efficiency at our state-of-the-art Autoplex.
  • Rich Legacy: Established in 1992, our group has grown from a single dealership to employing over 300 professionals that collectively represent the largest retailer of automobiles in downtown Toronto.

The expected compensation range for this role is $18 - 20/hr
