To ensure the proper operation of all locks and hardware on all doors, especially Guest room doors, fire and emergency exits;
panic bars, co-coordinators, latches, etc). Within the Chelsea hotel.
Also provides other general mechanic duties as assigned by maintenance management / coordinator. Work with the entire maintenance team to attain highest levels of guest satisfaction and colleague satisfaction at the Chelsea Hotel, Toronto.
- Checks daily maintenance board for work requests assigned to him, and completes the forms by stating the time spent, materials and parts used on the jobs.
- Attends to room calls and other service calls.
- Keeps a record of all zone, master and sub master keys of the entire Hotel.
- Maintains the security of the Locksmith Shop at all times, and reports irregularities in security
- Maintains the locksmith Shop clean and well organized at all times.
- Coordinates with maintenance managers or maintenance coordinator the requirements of zone, master, sub master, and individual guestroom or change keys.
- Maintains sufficient stock of zone, master, room keys as required for rooms and keeps a sufficient inventory of other key blanks at all times.
- Keeps a sufficient supply of door closers, panic hardware, replacement cylinders, etc. as required for normal replacement or maintenance work.
- Keeps key masters and originals locked in a special cabinet only accessible to the Duty Manager, Security & Maintenance Managers.
- Make routine checks and repairs to all fire and emergency exits and smoke doors.
- Maintains and updates and for that matter is responsible for records of all zone keys, master keys and sub master keys issued to any personnel in the hotel.
- Maintains a logbook, with the assistance of Shift Mechanics, of all saflok problems and procedures.
- Trains all new shift and General Mechanics in the operation of saflok (or any other type of card lock installed), troubleshooting and repairing, etc.
- Carries out preventive maintenance on Safloks and other accessories associated with Saflocks (or any other type of card locks installed), on a regular basis or as recommended by the manufacturer.
- Carries a local pager during shift, check pager for proper operation and marks number of pager on signing sheet.
- Observes all fire and safety regulations on his place of work and elsewhere in the building.
- Complies with Hotel Policies and Procedures including Health and Safety.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the maintenance managers or in their absence the duty manager / night manager.
- Carries out duties of general mechanic / shift mechanic when required.
Business
- With Director of Preventative Maintenance, Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Coordinator, sets daily priorities for preventative maintenance work orders.
- Carries pager for purpose of timely response to work requests through the Maintenance Coordinator and Maintenance Supervisor.
- Maintains records and logbooks as required.
- Perform other tasks as the maintenance management team assigned.
Customer Satisfaction
Ensure all guest issues / requests are resolved to their satisfaction.
Process Improvement / Productivity
- Attends annual training for WHMIS, Ladder training, MSDS and other courses as suggested by Maintenance supervisors.
- Prioritizes work to optimize productivity and guest satisfaction.
Requirement .
Working Experience
Minimum of 2 years experience in locksmith field.
Knowledge
- Ability to handle many tasks at the same time.
- Ability to operate all tools and equipment as required.
- Practical knowledge in locksmithing.
Education
High School graduate, or equivalent.

Language
Must be fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
Physical Requirements
- Able to work varied shifts including weekends, holidays, evenings and overnight.
