Project Manager – Infrastructure & Environmental Agreements
Location: Burnaby / Vancouver, BC
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – approximately 2 days onsite per week
MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Project Manager – Infrastructure to support one of British Columbia’s largest utility providers on a major transmission infrastructure program. This role will work closely with the Environment team and focus on coordinating the development, review, and execution of mitigation measures associated with agreements with First Nations.
This position is well suited to someone who is highly organized, comfortable working with complex agreements and documentation, and able to take ownership of workstreams involving multiple technical, legal, environmental, financial, and Indigenous Relations stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and drive the drafting, review, revision, and execution of mitigation measures developed with First Nations.

Support the development of associated plans, agreements, and transaction documents.

Coordinate input and reviews across Legal, Indigenous Relations, Environment, Finance, external legal counsel, project teams, and other stakeholders.

Take ownership of assigned workstreams and proactively advance activities toward key milestones.

Manage action items, dependencies, reviews, approvals, and outstanding decisions.

Maintain detailed trackers, schedules, action logs, project plans, and document control processes.

Monitor and report on agreement status, mitigation implementation, milestones, dependencies, decisions, and action items.

Organize and facilitate working sessions, document reviews, and stakeholder meetings.

Review and interpret complex contract and agreement language.

Identify issues, recommend next steps, and escalate matters when appropriate.

Develop project plans and risk management plans to support effective delivery.

Coordinate multiple project activities while maintaining strong governance, documentation, and follow-up.

Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, and project partners.

Provide additional transaction and project coordination support as required.
Qualifications
-
Minimum 5 years of project management experience or equivalent.

Experience working as a Project Manager, Project Coordinator, or similar project support professional.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.

Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

Demonstrated experience reviewing, interpreting, and working with contract language, agreements, and complex documentation.

Strong project tracking, scheduling, documentation, and follow-up capabilities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, priorities, and concurrent workstreams.

Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.

Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and proactively drive work toward completion.

Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
Nice to Have
-
Experience supporting environmental agreements, mitigation programs, or related project initiatives.

Experience working with First Nations agreements, Indigenous Relations, or associated consultation and engagement activities.

Experience within utilities, transmission infrastructure, engineering, or large capital project environments.

Previous experience supporting high-consequence projects requiring strong governance, tracking, and documentation.

Strong working knowledge of project management principles.
-
PMP designation is preferred.

Engineering education or experience is an asset.
Work Arrangement
The position will primarily support teams in Burnaby and Vancouver and is expected to follow a hybrid schedule of approximately 2 days onsite per week, with flexibility to work from home.
Candidates located in the Lower Mainland are preferred. Candidates elsewhere in BC or Alberta may also be considered provided they are able to attend Lower Mainland office locations when required.
