Our client, a leader in the Aerospace industry, is looking for a Project Manager to join their team on a long term basis in the Mississauga area.
Job Description
The Project Manager – Industrialization leads transformative aerospace manufacturing projects that improve production efficiency and support strategic business objectives. This role focuses on developing manufacturing cell designs and plant layouts, coordinating complex industrialization initiatives, and overseeing project governance to ensure aircraft programs transition smoothly from design into stable, repeatable production. Operating at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and operations, the Project Manager drives cross-functional alignment, implements new manufacturing technologies, and contributes directly to the introduction of iconic, purpose‑driven aircraft into production.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, coordination, and execution of transformative projects that enhance production efficiencies and support strategic company objectives.
- Design and optimize manufacturing cells and plant layouts to enable efficient, scalable, and repeatable aerospace production.
- Coordinate projects that align with manufacturing capabilities and strategies, including make‑versus‑buy decisions and the development of supporting business cases.
- Provide project governance and oversight, ensuring projects follow defined processes, meet milestones, and adhere to cost, schedule, and quality targets.
- Manage cross‑functional project teams across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and operations to ensure alignment and effective execution.
- Drive the industrialization of aircraft programs, ensuring a smooth transition from design into full-rate production and stable manufacturing processes.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement new manufacturing technologies that improve capability, efficiency, and competitiveness.
- Apply lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational performance.
- Monitor and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies, balancing cost, schedule, and technical constraints.
- Prepare and present project updates, business cases, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
- Coordinate the resolution of production and design readiness issues to support on-time program delivery.
- Ensure that all industrialization activities comply with aerospace manufacturing and engineering system requirements.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 5 years of aerospace work experience in an engineering, methods, or manufacturing environment.
- Technical post-secondary degree in a relevant field (such as engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical discipline).
- In-depth technical knowledge of aerospace manufacturing systems and aerospace engineering systems.
- Strong understanding of aircraft and their associated manufacturing and engineering requirements.
- Demonstrated experience leading project teams in a manufacturing or industrialization context.
- Proven project management skills with specific experience delivering greenfield projects.
- Experience identifying, assessing, and implementing new manufacturing technologies.
- Knowledge and practical experience with lean concepts and continuous improvement approaches.
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and operations.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills suitable for a fast-paced aerospace environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mississauga, ON.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
