We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Laboratory department.

  • The Charge Tech assists in the technical, operational, and quality management of the designated clinical areas. Responsibilities include coordinating the technical operations;
  • leading and supervising staff; ensuring that processes and procedures within the designated clinical areas are performed in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures;

and assisting with monitoring the budget for the assigned functional work areas. In addition, the Charge Tech may perform a variety of technical duties.

This position also support Northern Haida Gwaii and travels to Masset on a twice monthly basis.

Shift Rotation / Hours of work : Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Days - 07 : 00 to 15 : 15, 08 : 00 to 16 : 15. This position participates in the on call rotation.

Haida Gwaii Hospital and Health Centre Xaayda Gwaay Ngaaysdll Naay Physicians and Staff are part of a community-run project in health care delivery designed to give a team approach to health care.

The Haida Gwaii Hospital and Health Centre Xaayda Gwaay Ngaaysdll Naay opened in 2016. The new facility, which serves a population of 3,000, features a modernized environment for the delivery of public and mental health and addictions programs, and home and community care services.

The newly reconfigured hospital layout benefits the delivery of acute and emergency services including :

  • 8 Acute Care beds
  • 1 labour, delivery and recovery suite
  • Designated program space for Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory and Pharmacy
  • 8 Long-term Care beds

Daajing Giids is an archipelago of about 250 islands located off the northwest coast of BC. Daajing Giids is the centrally located community at the south end of Graham Island.

Known as the Galapagos of British Columbia, the Islands are a rain forest of natural beauty and wildlife. Haida and settler cultures add to the diversity while the mild climate allows for lush vegetation and abundant wildlife.

Qualfications

  • Graduation from a recognized program in Medical Laboratory Technology, plus a minimum of three (3) years recent related experience in the designated clinical area, including supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Services (CSMLS).

Critical Thinking : Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively.

Applies the problem-solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision-making skills using a systems approach.

  • Teamwork : Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.
  • Teaching : Ability to teach clients and others both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Equipment : Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Windows based programs. Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools.

Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.
